Suppose I should get to postcard-writing and sightseeing-planning, as I have Monday off, wherein I plan to: Mail postcards via AusPOST, take my bike to the shop, and have Jillian act as my personal tour guide for whatever it is I want to see in Canberra. :) (But first, some dinner is in order.)

Shauna, why oh why did you subject me/us to that, uh, delightful rendition of Oh Holy Night?

Mmm, my apartment still smells like the hamburgers I made for dinner.

I went down to reception to pick up a couple more gauze rolls--my abrasions are healing, but a couple still want dressing. While there, I caught the tail end of a conversation between Anthony (reception) and a woman (somehow employed by the hotel, I believe related to the restaurant/bar*) dealing with riptides. My interest piqued, their conversation then included me and continued for the next half-hour or more, primarily talking about motor vehicle accidents, and included some advice for treating my own abrasions, before she left and I retreated to my room, bandages in pocket. (It also included discussion of her boss, who's the sort who'll suddenly leave town--for Sydney, or Queensland, or further--on no notice, at any time of day or night, and no one will know where he is until he drives back into town days later. Curious!)

    * The Jam Restaurant/Bar has apparently been the source of great drama of late among hotel staff, resulting in a temporary closure of the place and a note distributed to all hotel guests indicating this closure. I have no idea of the details, but apparently it's been rather serious.

Well into volume 4 of Buttercup Festival now, and I still recommend it to all of you with strange senses of humor. :)

Oh yeah, and I have been to nearly all the touristy stuff n Canberra, so you should ask me what there is to do, and what is worth doing.
    skreidle [23:03]:
that could well work even better
    Silja (Jillian P) [23:04]:
Yes. So, shall I list the doable things?
    skreidle [23:04]:
    certainly
    Silja (Jillian P) [23:06]:
    Ok.
10 Good Things to Do in Canberra )

My vote is currently leading with Questacon, Botanical Gardens, National Museum, and Zoo/Aquarium. I hope to get to most of the listed places before I leave, but I have another month or two to get to those. I also plan to mail a bunch of postcards (that I still need to write out), buy a phone card to top up my phone--can't do it purely online! grr!--and take my bike to the shop, before going sightseeing. I think I'll charge my camera batteries before I go out, too.
