Naturally, I drew some attention at work today, and garnered additional comments to the effect that perhaps I should stick to four-wheeled vehicles. Naturally, I disagree, and plan to get my bicycle fixed up on Monday* and replace my motorcycle when I'm back in the States. :)

* We're working Saturday and Sunday and taking Monday off, since Super Bowl Sunday means Super Bowl Monday Morning here. I don't care, really--even less so since it's not involving the Redskins or the Ravens--but it means I have a weekday off, and can get things accomplished, including some sightseeing at places not open on weekends. :)

After work I unbandaged (ow), bathed (ow), rebandaged, and was picked up by Oscar/Jillian/Bella to go to Tilley's, where we met Alex and Trishna. Bella and I shared a tasty Polish Apple Cake, she had a sauvignon blanc, I had a Reisling--the former suggested by Jillian, the latter selected by me. After that we trouped back to Latebra, and thence Jillian, Alex and I went to Insomnia around 11.

Partied/danced for a while despite my bandages, and left sometime around 0230, since I have work in the morning--though I don't know what time, as neither of the coworkers I SMSed replied.

Got a message from Nathan saying that MBNA had called and said they haven't received any payments from me, which is crap, because both my bank's website and their own indicate that they've received over 3x the minimum due, automatically sent to arrive at least one business day in advance of the due date, each month for the last three months. They be smoking the good stuff, mon.

Shauna, Ashley MacIsaac is awesome.

And now, beaucoup de links:

From [livejournal.com profile] reabhecc: Flash movie of Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire", showing pictures of everything he's singing about. She also offers that "Liz, a girl in my IB history class, memorized this song for our Cold War test, and for the IB exam, becuase it helped her keep everything in chronological order." I wasn't even aware that it was so orderly. :)

From [livejournal.com profile] pendragon, a funny bit about Macs: Crash Differently.

From [livejournal.com profile] smandas: Winner of the "Let's Play the Public for Fools and Call a Rose by a Different Name" Award. Might not be that bad an idea, really. :P

From [livejournal.com profile] sebatical, Jimmy Carter's response to the above, including: "As a Christian, a trained engineer and scientist, and a professor at Emory University, I am embarrassed by Superintendent Kathy Cox's attempt to censor and distort the education of Georgia's students," Carter said in a written statement.

Several from [livejournal.com profile] jazzfish:
  • Flower-Power Could Help Clear Land mines: "The genetically modified weed has been coded to change color when its roots come in contact with nitrogen-dioxide (NO2) evaporating from explosives buried in soil."
  • The Corporation: "Diagnosis: the institutional embodiment of laissez-faire capitalism fully meets the diagnostic criteria of a psychopath."
  • Pickled dragon mystery: "The baby dragon, in a sealed jar, was discovered with a metal tin containing paperwork in old-fashioned German of the 1890s."

And from several people but most recently from [livejournal.com profile] weyakin, just in case you haven't seen it: A Whale of a Tale

    Whee, accomplished am I.

Installed JHead on my website so that my gallery can read EXIF info from the JPGs I upload--meaning, most importantly, that when I upload photos it'll correctly read the Capture Date instead of setting it equal to the Upload date. Unfortunately, this does nothing for the ~300 photos I already uploaded, but I hear there's a script floating about to retroactively update those--just need to find it.

Oh by the way, I have a photo gallery with almost 300 photos in it, all from Australia. :)

Updated my checking register with info from my bank's website, as delay from purchasing things overseas makes it impossible to write things in the register immediately--the amounts will be wrong due to changes in exchange rates.

Downloaded a few more of the songs Shauna uploaded the other day--soon, I shall have all I was lacking! MUAHAHAHA! (Currently halfway through #9 of 15.)

IMed with Nathan to learn about the mail that arrived for me--vehicle tax bills, medical bill, and a complaint from MBNA that I haven't sent them any money for the Apple loan I took out for my laptop. What part of "6 Months Same As Cash" involves payment and finance charges accruing immediately?

Emailed all of my January birthday people that don't have LJs, and updated email addresses as mandated by bounced mail errors and the TJ Alumni Database, mostly. Also, replied to a few other emails. Unfortunately, still 100+ LJ comments in the hole, but the aforementioned downloads slow down my connection considerably. Also, the We Didn't Start the Fire.swf I downloaded wouldn't play--someone on Windows want to pull it out of their internet cache and put it somewhere I can download it, or tell me how to retrieve it from my cache in OS X?

Read more of Buttercup Festival--into volume 4 now. :) So delightfully bizarre! Love it love it.
