So check out this bit of (possibly frivolous, as it often is) conspiracy theorizing: http://trancenews.com/pentagoncrash.swf
And the discussion here (where I first saw it): http://www.livejournal.com/users/sebatical/743362.html
And the DC-area discussion, here: http://www.livejournal.com/community/washingtondc/537513.html

And now, read what George Washington had to say about Political Parties and foreign interests:

Partisanship is bad, as is excessively partisan foreign interest, mmkay? )

And now, the more entertaining/frivolous bits:

At [livejournal.com profile] comeseptember's suggestion, I watched the ending of the Theatrical Cut of The Butterfly Effect, and I liked it better. Sad, but both more plausible and more enjoyable than the Director's Cut ending.

So I sent a TJ friend, Jeff Firestone, a link to the Bose suspension system. His train of thought then led to:
  • A sonic refrigerator
  • The description of the seminar at which he saw said fridge, which also goes into "pyrophones" (instruments that use fire or heat to create music), the "daxophone" , and the Long String Instrument (a series of 100-ft-long bronze harp-type strings, played by several musicians with rosined hands--that's too large to demonstrate in the average lecture hall).
  • He adds:
The link to the fire organ is dead, but you can see it here: "Les Chants Thermique" which is part of an obscure group of intstruments called pyrophones! There is no good description of how it works, and the very few that have talked about it, in say Experimental Musical Instruments journal left off the wire mesh that I recall modulated and stabilized the heat flow that generates the tones.

which leads to the coolest concert picture I've ever seen!

Haha! Lies, damn lies, and statistics (about LJ interests)
Good news for Jesus: you just beat Wicca, 26185 to 26173
Bad news for Jesus: You lost to Adult Swim, 26185 to 26244

DDR (Dance Dance Revolution, 24493) is slightly more popular than college (24041), not to mention a damn sight cheaper.

Whee! Jon Rosenberg (of Goats) and the Republicans For Voldemort Street Team--at the RNC protests--got articles in the Wall Street Journal and Newsday, plus interviews with the NY Post, Fuse Television, and a few radio stations! Read about it and see photos from the protests here!

And now for something completely different--I was previously unaware of this newer form of birth control, NuvaRing. Spiffy!
(This came up in a discussion following [livejournal.com profile] rozallin's post about the current anti-women administration in the US, and UK vs. US on BC.)

  • Scrubs is great. In addition to being funny, it featured Heather Graham. And Kool and the Gang. And Vespas. :D
  • Resident Evil: Apocalypse is Rated R for "Non-Stop Violence," among other reasons.
  • Garden State has a great trailer, and I hear good reviews from several friends who've seen it already.
  • Still need to see Napoleon Dynamite, though I didn't see any ads for that. Just came to mind. Fortunately, Christine wants to see both of the preceding, and Nathan wants to see RE:A. :)
