Evening @ The Reef and Kokopooli's
Aug. 17th, 2004 10:35 amSilly Columbia and Adams Mill, standing in the way of a simple intersection between Calvert and 18th. This I encountered last night, while walking from the Woodley Park-Zoo Metro station and The Reef, which itself is cleverly hidden upstairs behind an inconspicuous door tucked into an entryway. Fortunately a) I'd been there before, b) I had the street address, and c) WP showed me where it was located along the street.
Last night at the Reef was the bi-weekly Happy Hour, generally among Christine and friends, of which I'm now a part, and especially as a going-away party for Katherine Kelly, a former co-worker of most of the folks present. (Present that I knew: Aaron, Faye, Christine, Stefanie.) After a very sultry description and recommendation of beers by the waitress into my ear--and Katherine verified the sultriness after the waitress returned another time--I had a DeKoninck, and later a "Belgian Sunrise (Allagash White layered over Framboise Lambic), followed by some unimpressive fried oysters.
However, not content to let the partying end there, most of us continued down the street to Kokopooli's, a nice little underground bar/pool hall, where we lounged about on comfy sofas, had another drink, and watched either a) the men's gymnastics (floor) across the room, or b) the DubaiTV scheduling channel, entirely in Arabic except 1) the times, and b) the phrase "Motor Sports." And eventually, it was rather late, and we all went home.
Perhaps I'll get a job offer today! That'd be nice. :)
Oh, and incidentally, I posted a few photos from the day trip to Ocean City, as well as my parents kitten doing dangerous things. (Also, the neighbors' cute new puppy!)
