I swear, I need a paper calendar on the wall for event reminders. I almost forgot about Misty's movie night Friday night, I just added Dim Sum with ex-TJers in Rosslyn Saturday morning, I'll be hanging out with family for part of Easter Sunday, and coming up are several motorcycle rides and events!

Sun 4/18: Italian Bike Ride
Fri 4/23: Italian Bike Night
Sun 4/25: ride to Graves Mtn via GW Nat'l Forest
Sat 5/1: bike show & open house
Sun 5/2: [possible] ride to the Races at Summit Pt, WV

As soon as I got back to work after lunch, I was herded into a meeting with all the techs, where we were talked to for the better part of two hours. I suppose it was productive--some information was disseminated, some gripes were aired, and there's been a sizable bonus approved for those going to Baghdad, and potentially more on the way.

It was then noted that some branches of local gov't, including OBO, dismissed employees at 3pm, and we follow OBO, so we got out at 3. Huzzah! Now, what to do with the afternoon.. I could visit the DMV, I could exchange a cable at Tysons, I could stop by Manassas to sign some tax forms--but I can do that before returning to Centreville for movie night, I could check into getting my bike serviced tomorrow, since I'll be past 600 miles.. hmm.

I should probably avoid major highways, though, since it's a holiday weekend Friday rush hour. Ack.

Incidentally, I learned last night that my bike doesn't have enough steel near the ground to trip magnetic traffic sensors, so I had to wait out one timed cycle and turn on red at another. :P

In the end, I went to the DMV--after visiting their site and seeing that there was a "7 minute wait" at the Springfield Mall DMV, and 18-30min waits at the other two--how cool a system is that. Admittedly, this seems to be the wait to get a ticket, as I got one of those fairly quickly and then waited half an hour to actually be seen, which took all of 3 minutes or so. No refund on the registration, which I think I should've gotten a quarter-year's worth, but they may do it bi-annually, I'm not sure. Decided not to go back and wait more to argue. :) Also, while waiting to be called, I chatted with the guard by the door about Ducatis. :)

Got called by Christina as I was about to leave the mall parking space, but the Harley parked next to me started up, so I called her back from Petsmart. She was waiting for me at the house, so I bought food for lizard and toy for bird and went home. We then immediately joined Nathan for a trip out to the dog park, where there were many gorgeous and friendly dogs, and now it is darker and colder and I'm more fed and will leave shortly for movie night. :)
