I'm pleased with PHPwebhosting.com's tech support at the moment. Earlier, while trying to upload some new photos to my gallery, I received a new error--it said it couldn't create the thumbnail images, which meant the upload couldn't complete. After poking around Gallery's Docs and FAQs, I hypothesized that something had happened to ImageMagick, the software that handles image manipulation on the server end. At 8:48pm, I submitted a request; at 11:05pm I received my first reply, and by 12:19am, it was fixed!

At the moment, though, all I've uploaded is the new bike pics, so you can see a few more views of the bike and the pre-existing scratches here. :)

Photos up!

  • My aunt, uncle, cousins, and their pets
  • Their house, inside and out, which Harry built
  • Several of Harry's project cars--Pontiac Bonneville, VW Beetle, and a giant station wagon now sporting a small-block V8
  • My dad's 1951 Chevy Fleetline, before, during, and after the work we did on it--electrical, trim, paint, seating, engine--now a nice primer grey, with most of the trim hiding in the trunk until it gets professionally painted.

The weather's gotten nice again! Huzzah! May it stay this way indefinitely, even though I know it won't.

At lunchtime today, I deemed the weather nice enough to ride, and left for work about 20 minutes early to take advantage of it--headed down Rte 1 a ways before heading back, arriving at work just on time. While showing off my bike to a couple other guys who wanted to see it--both of whom approved highly, and one of whom says I'm not allowed to start my bike next to his since mine sounds so much better--I learned two things:
    1) The scratch on the mirror is only a little scratch, and mostly white paint rubbed off of another vehicle, most likely. I'll also likely be touching up the glaring white scratches with touch-up paint--possibly the appropriate color from Color-Rite--and either ignoring the side case scratches or dealing with them later.
    2) Had I looked in the tool kit under the seat, I would've learned that the bike did indeed come with an owner's manual and Ducati Owner's Card booklet, along with a few other booklets (Ducati Dealer listings, an uncrating/prep booklet for the original dealer, and Shell advertising.)

Upon getting home, I additionally learned that:
    3) My helmet does fit in the side case if it's facing backward, like the diagram indicates. Oops. :)
