At lunchtime today, I deemed the weather nice enough to ride, and left for work about 20 minutes early to take advantage of it--headed down Rte 1 a ways before heading back, arriving at work just on time. While showing off my bike to a couple other guys who wanted to see it--both of whom approved highly, and one of whom says I'm not allowed to start my bike next to his since mine sounds so much better--I learned two things:
1) The scratch on the mirror is only a little scratch, and mostly white paint rubbed off of another vehicle, most likely. I'll also likely be touching up the glaring white scratches with touch-up paint--possibly the appropriate color from Color-Rite--and either ignoring the side case scratches or dealing with them later.
2) Had I looked in the tool kit under the seat, I would've learned that the bike did indeed come with an owner's manual and Ducati Owner's Card booklet, along with a few other booklets (Ducati Dealer listings, an uncrating/prep booklet for the original dealer, and Shell advertising.)
Upon getting home, I additionally learned that:
3) My helmet does fit in the side case if it's facing backward, like the diagram indicates. Oops. :)
