Went into work today (Saturday) from about 10-3, hauled stuff around. Sunday off, Monday morning we start earlier, and actually start installing stuff, I think. (Security briefing Tuesday.)
After work I walked over to the large (and very well-equipped) indoor mall adjoining the pedestrian mall, to find and then do grocery shopping in the Supabarn. Shopping wisely and picking up more than a few ultra-generic Black & Gold-brand items, I stocked my kitchen nicely (and added to the bathroom and laundry room) for about A$115. I then walked out with the cart, discovered that several sections of this mall are open-air at their entrances, used my innate sense of misdirection to take at least half an hour to walk back to the hotel--a 10-minute walk, generally. (I also decided that though four freely-rotating wheels on a shopping cart is more maneuverable in the store, it's a pain in the ass for extended straight travel.)
Unpacked the supplies, returned the cart to outside the hotel--I'm told they scout around the area picking up their carts; nice, eh?--threw in some laundry and grabbed another shower. Tonight, I think we're going to a better club than where I went last night--apparently I just missed the other guys when they were heading out last night.
Oh yeah--I learned that direct-dialing the US from my hotel room is A$1.54/min, so I'll be finding a calling card and/or a tri-band phone with prepaid sim card sometime soon.
And apparently, my dialup connection can be happy sometimes--I realized, after getting out of the shower, that my computer had been connected for over 16 hours. Apparently telling it to not go to sleep (when on the power supply) is sufficient to let it stay connected, as long as the ISP is happy with it. :)
