Cue! CDs! Microchips on spacecraft!
Apr. 10th, 2003 03:08 amCue! Fun as usual, the regulars
djkangal and
djpaulen layin' down the beats. Hung out with Becky and Nick and Cosmo and a few others again; Becky unfortunately wasn't having the best night--as a friend of hers is going through a seriously rough time and Becky is her only true friend at the moment. :\
However, I did make Becky's night by presenting her with CDs of all of Evanescence's music (Demo CD 2002, EP, Fallen, Mystary (yes, 'a'), and Origin) that I burned from mp3 before I went. :) Last week, we were talking about the band, and she offered to bring in her copy of the latest CD for me to copy. When I learned I could get all of those mp3s on short notice, I did so, and burned the audio CDs. :) (Also got two Joy Electric compilations, and the unreleased Dave Gahan album. :)
A nice surprise was when I greeted Kangal at the booth--he'd made up a mix CD and offered a limited number of free copies to Cue-goers, and I'd mentioned I wanted one, but didn't think he'd remember. However, I showed up, he reaches over and passes me a CD. Rock!
( Mix One track list )
Added bit from
djkangal about the night:
( It's a real NightClub Event now! )
Chatted with Becky out in the cold for a while before heading home (to jump back on AIM and chat with other cool people ;), and found a request from
Ali to assist her in "being all Nancy Drew." Turns out she came across the page about the STARDUST Microchips, filled with public-submitted names (in 1997-1998) and fired off into space on a spacecraft in Feb 1999, to rendezvous with the comet Wild 2 in January '04. One set of microchips will return with that craft in 2006, the other will remain in space.
In perusing the database of names, she found some she recognized--her own, mine, Shauna's, Jen Durdall's, and was quite curious how they got there. As I recall, I added them all way back when, and had quite forgotten about it. :)
