Last night, we (Melody, me, Crystal, Stephe[n]) watched Reign of Fire--or more accurately, Crystal and Stephe[n] watched all of it, I fell asleep partway through, and Melody and I decided to not watch the rest in favor of waiting until I could see the missed part. Unfortunately, Stephe[n] took the tape with him when he left, so we'll have to rent it and/or watch it some other time. :P (Crystal's friend Kathleen also took away her copy of Amélie, as she's going allll the way to school in NYC (from mid-LI) and won't be back foreeeever, so she is the suxx0r.)

Today, we've had some food, played chess--A Winner Is Me! Wooo!, looked at stuff online including kitty pictures and music videos and music (ok, we didn't watch that) and cool linguistic stuff that [livejournal.com profile] sylvie and [livejournal.com profile] idoru and maybe [livejournal.com profile] strwbrylv and anyone else who is linguistically inclined or just wants to hear accents should like, and more food is on the way, or possibly even here.

Speaking of kitty pictures, kitty pictures! (Puck, the new Kreidler kitty. :)

Also, the Google Toolbar rocks my web-browsing world. :)

Incidentally, what did you think of "Reign of Fire"? I had to rent it because of dragons, of course, and London (how much more appropriate can you get), but I was kind of disappointed. I was hoping it would be like Mark Chadbourn's Age of Misrule, or actually be adapted from it (hell, it could have been, and would have been much better for it). The series is about the re-emergence of the old magic and the Celtic gods in this modern, technologically-dependent world. None of the wishy-washy fuzzy disney magic, but the scary "we're not the top of the food chain any more" type. It's set in London, which isn't surprising when you realize he's a british author, and it's well done. If you're into celtic, urban fantasy. Which I happen to be. :)

i actually wasn't too impressed with Reign of Fire. watched it at jen's place. i dislike the dragons lessnow that i've seen the extra bits about how/why they made them look like they did, but i still don't care for the artistic interpretation. they're just.. eh.

the plot wasn't GREAT, the characters were predictable.. .:shrug
it was okay to see once, but i wouldn't bother owning it.

It seemed kind of interesting, and I'm told it gets better closer to the end, but I dozed through a good chunk of it and skipped the end, until some later date.

aaaannnnnnnd we might [probably!] get another kitten too, because mom has read -- and people have verified -- that it is best for kittens to socialize and have a playmate and such. though i'm pretty sure puck will occupy primary <3KITTEN place in me, since i got to play with her the very first day and she slept on me and is sooo cuuuute. :DDD
