State Dept. inefficiency, etc.
Aug. 20th, 2003 05:41 pmThere are two rules to success in life...
1. Don't tell everyone everything you know.
Of all the days to wake up late, I picked the one where I -had- to be at work by 0810 for a run to State Dept, and woke up at 0750 instead of 0615, like I set my alarm for. Got all security briefed in an hour, went over to the badge place, got a number (45, serving 26), went to get food. It then took the better part of 3 hours to get two badges printed, one of which was slightly wrong, and another hour to get a new one printed--with almost no one else waiting for that last hour. Talk about inefficiency.. especially since one of my fellow employees says that from what she's seen, the actual data-entry&printing process takes about 10 minutes. Helped with some deliveries and pickups in other buildings, returned to RDR, filed a bit of paperwork, and came home. Hard day at work, lemme tell you. (However, with all this training and uniforming and badging and such, I'm well ahead of the incoming rest of the class who arrive Monday. :)
Tonight, Cue!
Anyone have any experience with catering large (~75 person) parties? If so, go give
gingerdc9 some advice. :)
