1) Caltech's Infrared Zoo! (from [livejournal.com profile] sylvie)

2) Nathan, as an incentive for him to work start working out every night--we have an elliptical runner and a disassembled weight bench in the house--has agreed to pay me $5 for every weeknight where he sits in front of the TV all evening, if I point it out the next day. If that fails to keep his workout ethic up, he'll increase the amount. I'm a personal trainer with no actual work involved! :D (Of course, I intend to start working out regularly as well, but without a monetary risk. ;)

3) Sunoco mailed me today saying, "WE MISS YOU! You have not used your Sunoco card for over 9 months. Do you need a new one? Can we assist you in any way?" etc. Well, let's compare my gas cards.
Sunoco Gasoline card: $250 limit, $75 24-hr limit, no rolling balance--if these limits are exceeded, the card is deactivated until the debt is paid down under $175, or the next day, respectively--21.6% APR, usable only at Sunoco gas stations, which aren't the most common things.
Exxon/Mobil MasterCard $4K limit, standard credit-card-style rolling balance, 16.24% APR, usable anywhere MC is accepted, 3% rebate on all Exon/Mobil purchases (disbursed monthly), 1% rebate on all other purchases. I don't carry a balance on it, it's paid off monthly as if it were a plain gas card.

Wonder why I was already considering cancelling the Sunoco card?

Oh yeah! Happy birthday, Kathy! :D

Ooh, I love the infra-red zoo. I saw it a while ago, but have no idea why. I should chart my life more thoroughly

Definitely. The uncharted life is not worth living, after all.

AH, but if one over-charts, one risks missing anything worth charting. :)

One risks missing the chart for the figures. :)

That sounds like a good way to burn out, but I admire the dedication. :-)

That would never work for me. Sometimes you just need to watch television and eat chocolate all evening.

I'll be good if I make it 3 days a week, and I have no desire to work out daily. :)

I like the idea of making money off of his laziness, though. :D

Also, the elliptical is in such a location as it's easy to watch TV while running. :)

Wow! Sounds similar to the bet my sister made with Laura: if Laura buys another purse between now and January, my sister gets $5. ;P To give you an idea of just how likely it is that my sister will get the $5--Laura has at least 10 purses, not including the two she gave to me because she didn't use them once. ;P I swear she buys a new purse every time we go shopping. XP

And go you for planning on exercising regularly. :D I say that because it's a healthy thing, not because I think you need to, of course. ;P If either of us is in need of exercise, it's me. XP

That's.. an inordinate number of purses.

Not that it's really a parallel, I own two backpacks, and used one of them 98% of the time throughout both high school and college. No additional needed. :) (Also, I don't usually go shopping unless I need a particular thing or two, and if I do, I still don't buy much else. :P :D)

I need exercise.. all I got through most of college was 5-10 minutes of easy bicycling around campus, several times a day. I may be in perpetually decent shape--I've run 4.5 miles in decent time, every Thanksgiving for the last many years, with my HS crew team, with no preparation whatsoever--but I'm sure I could use some additional cardio fitness and perhaps strength as well. :)

I don't think I've ever been in what could be considered 'decent' shape. XP My best time for a mile in high school was pathetic. :/ I've never found exercising at all enjoyable for more than a couple of months. About the only thing I haven't tried to get me to stick with exercising is doing it with someone else. No one I know has ever been willing to exercise with me, so I guess I'm kind of out of luck with that. :P

The only time I've fully voluntarily exercised/worked out, aside from activities that were also exercise, was one semester sophomore year where I went to the gym 2-3x/week. Worked pretty well, especially since I wanted to be there--much better than being told to work out during, say, crew training or PE class. However, I haven't done it since. Maybe I will soon, given that we have an elliptical trainer and a mostly-assembled weight bench..
