[personal profile] skreidle
First, [livejournal.com profile] sebatical posts an article, partly lj-cut, about a horrible incident involving the death of a baby.

Then, another user begs him to hide it entirely because she just can't take reading it. He doesn't honor this request, because a) it's his journal, b) it's a public news article, c) if she doesn't want to read it, she doesn't have to list him on her friends page, etc.

Later, he makes another post [friends-only] asking if he should "stir shit up"--entirely unrelated to the news article issue. She whines* about drama and stress, I reply* on the insignificance of LJ drama, and discover her interesting* criteria for friending people--which, incidentally, has resulted in the removal of [livejournal.com profile] sebatical from her friends list.

* Relayed commentary:

+ [livejournal.com profile] iscreamyourname: why? whats the point?
this is why, i screen people before i add them to my friends list,..
because of drama and stress people like to cause on here.....

+ [livejournal.com profile] skreidle: Ok, I don't think Ms. "I don't want to see drama or baby-beating on my friends page" would get along so well.
That said:
What, is this rhetorical? Of course, stir shit up! You excel at it. ;)

+ + [livejournal.com profile] iscreamyourname: I got to many problems for this shit,...

+ + + [livejournal.com profile] skreidle: LJ drama really isn't very significant, unless it's coming in via your email. If someone on your friends page features too much drama for your liking, it isn't up to them to change what they post--these are personal journals, and topical communities--but you have the power to remove journals from your friends page or use custom friends groups to view them.

+ + + + [livejournal.com profile] iscreamyourname: whatever i have taken care of this problem, i don't have time for people who are suppose to be a friend of mine, and know what i'm going through, to be disrespectful to me,.....don't bother replying to this comment,.....i will not read it,...

+ + + + + [livejournal.com profile] skreidle: Your criteria for friending people is pretty ridiculous. "you're too new! you have too many friends! you're a minor! you don't comment! you have drama in your life and write about it in your personal journal!"
Dave did nothing disrespectful by not modifying his personal journal entry, regardless of what "you're going through".
And yes, you took care of the problem as I said you reasonably could--removed him from your friends list. Power to you.
(And even if you don't read this, other people will, and will be amused. ;)

Finally, this exchange takes place in the user's journal, which is pretty damn melodramatic for someone who ostensibly avoids drama. (That's the most entertaining link, incidentally.)

And, ah, it's 2:15 and I get up for work around 6. Guess I should go to bed!

I loved how this...user...wrote with ellipses...all the time...and also seemed to make a conscious effort...to avoid using contractions in certain areas...of writing...

because...it...just screams "I AM ATTEMPTING TO BE DRAMATIC! PAY ATTENTION TO ME! LOOK AT HOW MUCH THOUGHT/EMOTION I'M PUTTING INTO MY WORDS!"

...and, when you add up all the errors in the text...syntax, spelling...even grammatical...you have to wonder where the writer's priorities are really set...I just don't think people should...be doing something like that.

I mean...there's a difference...between respecting people...and not putting up with their individual crap...isn't there?

Hell, I'd gladly cut someone off of my friends list for even attempting to pull some stupid shit like that! RANT RANT GRIPE GRIPE I'M GONNA MAKE IT PERSONAL, ETC! (oh yeah, and pay attention- I'm talking really passionately/dramatically...so please comment to validate my emotion!!!!)

This just in: Sorry children, but lj is NOT an appropriate medium for whining to others and expecting sympathy. Be prepared for others to roll their proverbial eyes at you if you try to use it as such.

That is all.

No, no, I just have a few very self-pitying, self-deprecating individuals on my friends list who, whether they're aiming for this or not, get plenty of affirmation in reply to such post content.
