Movie #2 of the three my mom rented recently was The Majestic, starring Jim Carrey in the McCarthy era, doing a fine job in a dramatic role.. I really liked this movie. =)

Because I haven't been feeling pretty enough to turn it on, or I've not been in the room, or the roommates have not wanted it turned on.

Reasonable, if unfortunate. I don't have many friends with webcams running, and it's often entertaining to peek in now and then--much moreso when the picture changes. :)
