Movie #2 of the three my mom rented recently was The Majestic, starring Jim Carrey in the McCarthy era, doing a fine job in a dramatic role.. I really liked this movie. =)

I disliked it so much that I walked out.

Note to self: never touch Scott, as annihilation will ensue.

Hehe. I've never walked out of a movie in a theater, and only voluntarily cut one movie short--Godfather II--because it was godawfully boring.

What did you have against The Majestic?

I didn't care whether the characters lived or died. It was boring.

Curious. Maybe it's 'cause you ain't American?

That's a really bizarre assumption to make.
The American I was with disliked the film almost as much as I did. Certainly enough to walk out.

I don't understand, as I rather liked it. I would watch it again.

I made that assumption based on the whole McCarthy era ridiculousness, fighting for rights stated in the Constitution, that sort of thing.

Enh, we left at the part where Carrey and the blonde chick are walking near the lighthouse.

Missed some rather significant parts of the movie that way.

That's why I don't leave movies early, or books unfinished, with very few exceptions--I like to be able to form an opinion based on the whole work, not just part of it.

Yeah, we missed parts, but we missed parts we seriously did not want to see because we hated the movie and weren't gluttons for punishment.

If the studio couldn't craft an enticing beginning of the film, I didn't particualrly want to stick around to see what else they would fail to craft.

Can't fault you for that without hypocrisy, since I did the same after an hour and a half of Godfather2--alternating 30 seconds of excitement with 20 minutes of boredom--and realizing there was still half the movie to go.

I liked The Majestic. But I like sappy, feel-good movies sometimes, and I didn't find any of it as terrible as you two did.. to each his own.

And on an unrelated note, why has your camera lay idle for almost two weeks?

Because I haven't been feeling pretty enough to turn it on, or I've not been in the room, or the roommates have not wanted it turned on.

Reasonable, if unfortunate. I don't have many friends with webcams running, and it's often entertaining to peek in now and then--much moreso when the picture changes. :)
