Passed on Raytheon for the time being--the one Control Systems Engineer requires more experience, security clearance, and programming skill than I possess. And writing off BorgWarner Morse TEC (auto parts, in Ithaca), Hudson Control Group (wasn't impressed by the recruiters), and Raymond Corp. (forklifts), that wraps up the companies I visited at the career fair almost a year ago. :)

Oh, almost forgot Johnson & Johnson--nothing suitable in their Engineering category either.

Just a note that many places will *get* you the security clearance if you are otherwise qualified and they want to hire you. I know that isn't the case in this one, but I wouldn't automatically skip a place because of a SC requirement.

Oh, I know.. I was a reference for a friend headed through security clearance at Lockheed. However, this one seemed pretty clear on "we want you to have it already."
But thanks for the advice :)

Just to let you know, most Raytheon positions require a security clearance. I don't have one, but that's because I worked an air traffic control job. They give you the application on your first day and it takes a while, but you can do limited work while waiting for your clearance.

Besides, if you end up working for Lockheed Martin, I'll be forced to refer to you as "the enemy."

I'd advise against Raytheon anyway since we just did major layoffs. Good luck with your job search! :)

Well, it still doesn't hurt to apply.. but not Raytheon for the moment. And thanks! :)

Heh.. my friend works for Lockheed, and wasn't sure who their "competitor" was--I had to pull up your resume to check. :)

This particular Ray job, though, seemed to require a pre-existing clearance.

Hey, if you stopped by the Ray booth at the career fair, you probably saw me. I was collecting resumes and talking to people.

Entirely possible.. I only remember the recruiters I already knew personally. And the old frumpy guys at Hudson Control Group, which is already in a crappy part of New York. :)
