Movie goodness

skreidleSo Katia and I got to RPCC at around 10:40pm, took about 20 minutes to buy some soda and snacks (Bear Nasty's was -packed-), and got up to the auditorium upstairs to discover... Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil! It ran over until about 11:30, and Chester (friend of the house, who seems to be in charge of overseeing these movies) then put on Hamlet.. though much to everyone's (all 7 of us) dismay and in contradiction to the earlier email -and- the sign, on came the 2000 Hamlet instead of Branagh's Hamlet!
So, faced with the options of seeing the alternate version (everyone would have left), Katia and I decided to get back in my truck, head over to Ctown Video or Hollywood Video and pick up the proper version.
But wait, there's more!
At CTV, Katia went in while I waited behind Cascadilla.. after 20 min or so she reappeared, after I'd started to wonder if she'd been hit by a car or something, but figured that wasn't the case due to the lack of rescue vehicles. Turns out a) they didn't have the right Hamlet on DVD, b) they didn't appear to have the right Hamlet on VHS, either, c) they had the right Hamlet tag on the Mel Gibson Hamlet box, d) the store was mad crowded, with people filling out apps for new cards and everything, to the point that the manager offered everyone waiting in line a free movie poster, e) the girl at the counter came out bearing a single-cassette box, which Katia immediately pointed out wasn't the right one, had an argument with the girl about how could she tell it wasn't the right one without even seeing the tape, and did she know every version of Hamlet, before looking at it and seeing her error.
So we returned victorious, watched the movie (whittling down to four viewers plus Chester by the end), and enjoyed it greatly.
And soon to sleep, and up around 11 for a free brunch with some of Katia's colleagues. :)
