eMode's What's Your Stress Style? test results:

You're a Buddha. Eyes half-closed, a slight smile playing on your lips you accept even the most stressful situations with ease. Nothing seems to surprise you. In fact, you may even tell people that you anticipated the problems you encounter. Stress happens, you might say, so why fight it?

Peacefulness takes you a long way toward handling stress, but there's more to it than the path of least resistance. Often, stress is a sign to take action, to make a change, or at the very least to get up and jump out of the way! Your placid pace could cause a bottleneck in the stress-processing plant, allowing problems to stick around much longer than necessary. Try moving a little faster the next time you're faced with a sticky situation, and see if you can't be cool and courageous at the same time.

This is also the guy who could program games into his TI-82 calculator from scratch, reprogram existing games, solve any Rubik's cube in under 3 minutes, and composed and orchestrated classical music in his spare time.. :)

Tim Terriberry.. I don't think I'll tell you any more about him, or you may decide to go after him--he's quite geeky. *grin*

For some reason, when I saw it, I somehow thought it was about me!

Of course... that test says of me:

Buddha, you're a Buddha!

You're a Buddha. Eyes half-closed, a slight smile playing on your lips ? you accept even the most stressful situations with ease. Nothing seems to surprise you. In fact, you may even tell people that you anticipated the problems you encounter. Read more about your stress style?

Dearest Scott, Buddha is Buddha's real name. His nickname is Necktie.
From: [identity profile] skreidle.livejournal.com
Really? This I did not know.

(Gamma doesn't do nicknames, know that? Or letter sweatshirts.. or several other common APO traditions, I'm sure. :)
From: [identity profile] beracjade.livejournal.com
well, we don't normally do nicknames. there are a few (bald one, queenie, vector 1, vector 2, scalar, tootsie roll, big v, tycho....). and i did give though to bringing letter sweatshirts into it. we did get hats, once....but only 3 of us.
From: [identity profile] skreidle.livejournal.com
I don't recognize any of those but yours.. and I'm pretty sure yours was the only one commonly used--and self-bestowed to begin with.

I don't know that I'd wear a regular letter sweatshirt, either.. a) I don't wear sweatshirts, b) I don't feel like explaining APO to everyone I meet :P

nicknames

Date: 2001-10-15 09:11 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] beracjade.livejournal.com
really? mine's the only one you recognized?

bald one - me
queenie - claire d
vector 1 - ilan
vector 2 - bonnie
scalar - vince
tootsie roll - emily
big v - vlad (duh)
tycho - paul

the vector/scalar was mostly between the three of them, em got hers at a, uh, ceremony ;-), vlad's just came around, and paul's was also self-annointed (on the back of his hat).

Claire's rings a bell, Big V makes sense but I'm not sure I knew it, Tycho I think I'd seen.. none of the others, though.
From: [identity profile] cyberjunkie.livejournal.com
Heh. Yeah, he earned his nickname by braiding his hair and using it as a necktie at the 97 Phi conference.
From: [identity profile] beracjade.livejournal.com
tha amusing thing (for me) is that when i read it, and saw 15 comments, i thought "chances are buddha responded to that...."

everyone whose results for this test i've seen (including my own) is a buddha, and yet amode says they're 20ish percent of the population. i wonder what this says about my group of friends..

That they're statistically anomalous? :)
I've seen a stoic (that I don't believe), an overreacter, and a soother..
