This icon is awesome:

Went to Alchemy for the first time since.. July 8th, according to my LJ archive. Got there around 2120, but couldn't find a spare person willing to go in for 2-for-1, so it cost me the full concert-night $10 to get in. :P (Terrorfakt and some other band were performing on the concert side. I wasn't particularly enthralled with either.) On the other hand, I did get three free drinks before the open bar closed at 2200. :)

Ran into [livejournal.com profile] pictsy, Bagel, Nyk, Jenny, [livejournal.com profile] learath, [livejournal.com profile] anizee, [livejournal.com profile] lilscotchgirl, Scott, and [livejournal.com profile] blankkittyblack, a few of whom I met for the first time at Bagel & Nyk's party last week. Danced a lot. Around 0220, decided that a) almost everyone I knew had left, and b) I didn't want to dance any more, so I came home.

Noted that Social Distortion and Tesla will be performing (separately) at Nation in the next few months. :D

So, Nathan woke me around 0915 today, because I hadn't heard (and he almost missed) FedEx at the doorbell, delivering my offer letter/package from ADIC. Shortly thereafter he headed off to work, and I started hearing extra barking out back. I looked out my window, and discovered that the neighbor's boxer--generally very aggressive, always trying to jump over or chew through the wood fence--had, in fact, succeeded in getting into our yard. (Signs point to breaking through a piece of the fence.) Fortunately, the dogs were just playing, but I knew there'd be a knock at the door, since the only way to get the dog back to his own yard was out the back gate of ours and into the back gate of his. That's what happened (and the boxer was fine while he was in our yard), but as soon as he was back in his own yard and I'd blocked the hole in the fence, he was aggressively territorial again. :P

Oh, and I had to retrieve Waif, who took the opportunity to run out the back gate while it was open. Not too difficult, fortunately.

Whee!

New Get Your War On! I particularly like strip 4. And "Fuck it--it's not like we're gonna -win- this shit. Let's do something fun with the money. Who wants a pony?"

Nomadhawke (10:46:04): I'm busily trying to finish up Dawn's new PC. Mostly at this point I'm trying to figure out how to restore her Sims saved stuff, cause I think her Sims are valued over my life ;P
CU Stryker (10:46:17): i believe you're right ;-)
CU Stryker (10:46:24): might be in your best interests
...
Nomadhawke (10:54:09): yay, I saved Dawn's Sims neighborhood! I'm not gonna die!
...
CU Stryker (10:56:00): whee!
Nomadhawke (10:56:17): :D
Nomadhawke (10:56:24): Go Go Gadget Badass Self
CU Stryker (10:56:52): w3rd.
Nomadhawke (10:57:23): And now, in celebration of my victory, I shall put on pants.

Went grocery shopping this afternoon. Got ~$200 of stuff for ~$150. (You know it's going to be a big trip when you start by making a shopping list of what you -don't- need, because it's shorter.)

Saw Hero with Nathan @ Springfield Mall in the evening. Very very pretty. Nice use of color. Very nice sword fights, among other fighting forms. Good story.

And then, a Chinese couple behind us asked us what we thought of it, if we understood it, and when Nathan answered in the tentative affirmative, she asked him to explain his take on it! (Pay close attention, there could be a quiz!) Weird.

Tomorrow, I go meet some SCRC riders in Leesburg for a "sport ride" (though more than half the attendees are on cruisers) in Loudoun. Sunday, I might join some SCRCFX folks in Manassas to head out on some ride into places in MD I've never heard of, featuring covered bridges and funnel cake. :)

At some point, I might see AVP with Nathan. At some other point, I might hang out with [livejournal.com profile] macguyver. :)

Monday, no plans. Might go to the special night at Alchemy to see Faith and the Muse, and The Groaning.

Tuesday, first day at work at ADIC. Meet Rob at the local office around 08, and accompany him on a service call in Rockville.
