After a phone call around 1800 and another around 1930 last night, plans were finalized thusly: Come over to her parents' house whenever, whence we'd go to JV's in Falls Church for bluegrass. Left right after Law & Order: SVU ended (and I managed to miss the ending, which is the only reason we waited until after 2000 to leave!), headed up to Fairfax, met some of her family (again, they didn't remember me from years ago) and friends, and headed out to Falls Church--Nathan, me, Bea (as cute as I remembered), and her friend Kyle.
We arrived at JV's in the 2100 hour somewhere, and proceeded to have a blast for the next many hours--probably didn't leave until after 0200. Nice little place--family-run since 1947, small (only four booths and a few tables, plus the bar), assorted entertaining signs, Harley stuff, POW-MIA stuff, and a great clientele. Mostly older, but all there to have a good time. Had a few drinks and food, plenty of entertaining conversation, and more than a little dancing, to the great bluegrass of Idle/Idel/Idol (who knows?) Time.
After we left there, we headed to another of Bea's friends Jason's house, where we chatted more, watched The Last Boy Scout (action and witty repartee with Bruce Willis and Damon Wayans) until around 05, then listened to the entirety of Mitch Hedberg's live CD (he's hilarious!) until about 0630. After that, the four of us headed back toward Bea's house, stopping at Bob Evans for breakfast just as they opened at 0700, and we might've been a little raucous for Sunday morning. ;)
Throughout all of this--all evening, night, and morning--was a non-stop stream of puns and subtle jokes. All in all a great time, and it was good to see Bea again. :)
IM waiting from mom at 2330 yesterday: WE BOUGHT A NEW VAN!!! It's PRETTY and BLUE and the same color the chevy's going to be. A 2005 caravan. It's in the driveway..Come see! (perhaps not tonight) My response: aww, matched cars, so cute! (And they're probably a close match to my motorcycle, too. :) I suppose I'll find out later, as we're going out in honor of Steph & Matt's 7th anniversary (6/15).
And now some sleep. Maybe some LJ catchup first--~60 entries since 1930 yesterday!
