While sifting through job listings last night--Lockheed, Sandia, Sikorksy, UTC, Frucon, and NASA--I got distracted by NASA TV's webcast, featuring video clips of Reagan as related to the space race, then fell asleep with my laptop sitting on my chest. Around 0630, I woke up, set the laptop aside, and went back to sleep until 10. :)

In the interim, I had a dream I was on a passenger train, chatting with an attractive girl--slim, blue eyes, medium-long very curly dark blonde hair--in an otherwise empty car. We had to get away from the rest of the train, and lo, our car was uncoupled. I got off the car, which was still moving slowly, and observed that ours was the last car of four in the short train. The engineer didn't noticed we'd been decoupled and kept going, but a problem arose near the next station--the train was slowing to a stop, and if we kept going straight instead of off onto the siding, we'd collide. Fortunately, the switch was set such that the train went straight, but our car went off to the side. I then asked the girl about means of getting away, and she revealed she had a bicycle concealed under a tarp nearby.

Fifteen minutes after getting an email from Tom's dad saying, "Get back to me ASAP with a phone number. Several people want to interview you now," he called before I even replied. He said that, "being just a peon," he went to his boss and then his boss's boss, who offered, "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, get this guy in for an interview!" Not only that, apparently two managers were annoyed with him for going to the other manager first. I'm liking the sound of this. :)

Seems there's some cutting-edge stuff I could be working on, challenging, certainly not boring, gov't job (pay not as good as industry, benefits much better), some travel. He says that if Friday wasn't a government holiday, I'd definitely have an interview this week, and he wouldn't be surprised if I got an offer within a week or two. (If I got a job with them, I'd be based near Fredericksburg, VA--and probably move to that area, since it'd be worse than the Fredericksburg-Springfield commute that so many of my former coworkers performed daily, which isn't a happy thing.)

Yes, I'm aware this is all hypothetical and tentative, but he's very optimistic. :)

Also, my mom's friend at Raytheon passed on my résumé to HR and to some Lead Engineers, so we'll see if anything comes of that.

Also, I want to see M. Night Shyamalan's latest, The Village.
