Wireless routing, Wednesday plans, family trip & censorship

No cicadas here yet, but they're imminent.

After asking in [livejournal.com profile] macosx about the Apple Airport Base Station Extreme vs. non-Apple wireless routers, I decided to try a less expensive option. If that doesn't work as well as I'd like (speed, connectivity, need for remote printing), well, I'm not out much, and I can choose a better path later. Thus, off to eBay, sorted by BuyItNow+cheap, and picked a D-Link DI-524 Wireless 802.11g Router (54Mbps, 4 ports). (This can replace the current hardwired router we're using to connect my laptop and Nathan's and my desktops, as it has four hardwired ports in addition to wireless.) I considered the D-Link DI-624 (108Mbps) for a few dollars more, but realized it only offers the higher LAN speed with certain D-Link devices.

Tomorrow night, I might be joining [livejournal.com profile] cheshirrrecat and others at Dr. Dremo's Taphouse for pool, drinks, and camaraderie--haven't seen her since November at the most recent!

Thursday, I work half a day, then take a plane to Gulfport, MS. Friday, my cousin Logan's college graduation and family revelry. Saturday, New Orleans with family. Sunday, fly back here. Monday, I should get my bike's new headlight kit. :)

From [livejournal.com profile] vinz_klortho: How naive do these parents think high school students are? And do they not notice the overbearing irony in banning a book that focuses on book censorship? (They also claim that their protection of "moral decency" isn't censorship.)

Good TV

Watched the second half of Gilmore Girls, then One Tree Hill's season finale, then Mythbusters alternated with the first half of GG (on tape).

OTH: Plenty of unexpected twists, particularly near the end. Wow.
Mythbusters: Ha! Row-skiing! I want to row again, though not towing a water skier.

My friend's ragdoll kittens! Photos 12-16 are my favorites. :)
