Politics:

[livejournal.com profile] fuzzyamy: VA General Assembly passed Affirmation of Marriage Act, not yet governor-approved, stating that a same-sex partnership shall have no rights whatsoever, and out-of-state partnerships are void in VA. Gov. Warner recommends striking the preclusion amending to allow for domestic partnership benefits, which is a Good Thing. Contact your representatives to voice your opinion, hopefully in opposition to the bill and/or in support of Warner's revisions!

From [livejournal.com profile] prester_scott: "They Hate Us Because of Our Freedom." You think you're free?

Via [livejournal.com profile] deusinnomen: NYTimes: Hillary Clinton on health care, and it's an interesting read. I'll admit I didn't read it all the way through, but there's some content there I'm sure some of you will find interesting.

Amusement/Niftiness:

An amusing rant by [livejournal.com profile] vinz_klortho on after-hours drop boxes: "When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary to transfer some package or message, the receiving party may not be present..."

Remember when kids clothespinned baseball cards into the spokes of their bikes to make it sound like a dirtbike? Introducing Turbospoke!

Conversatron and clever syllabic transpositions.

Nifty words from [livejournal.com profile] antikate:
Colposinquanonia - Estimating a woman's beauty based on her chest
Tarantism - An urge to overcome melancholy by dancing
Sphallolalia - Flirtatious talk that leads nowhere

At work today, I was one of the escorts for housekeeping, and got a free donut near the conference room. I also completed the Washington Post crossword puzzle, almost finished the NY Times puzzle, read a good bit of Proficient Motorcycling, and picked up healthy food for pets on the way home. (My bearded dragon ate the spinach leaves! I was pleasantly surprised. [He also ate 21 crickets and four superworms--might've been hungry. :) ]) And then, I finally put up the desert background on his cage, which I bought at least a month ago. :)

nb: In my last post, I misinterpreted Amy's post about the Affirmation of Marriage Act in VA and Warner's proposed revisions that would potentially retain some of the rights that the Act is trying to remove. Post updated, and [livejournal.com profile] iriantuu adds that Warner has vetoed the bill., and Warner hasn't vetoed it, just recommended revisions. (That post also has an interesting bit about parents "exposing themselves" to a nudist camp under discussion. :D)
