At work today, I got to hear a series of stories from James Jimbo, a big bear of a guy, about all the serious fights he's gotten into, both while traveling and at home, including an extended encounter with the Mexican mafia one summer in Washington. Crazy stuff!

[livejournal.com profile] futuregirl: Point by point dissection of anti-gay marriage arguments--11 points, 47 comments and counting. Good debate all around.

Today's car mod no-no: An older green Ford Astro minivan with plastic "chrome" hubcap spinners, one of which was broken.

From [livejournal.com profile] r_transpose_p: News 14 Carolina gets pwnt--either hackers hit the school/business closings, or they were dumb enough to make an open form on the internet for announcing closures. :D

New photos!
+6 Family: [Mostly] Brendan, Shauna and dad on Shauna's birthday
+6 MiscVA: The three awesome Fresh|Ink cards I gave Shauna, Dad, and Mom&Dad. Cat, Ground Pig, and Call Me Coyote. :D
+6 Pets page 3: Two each of my crested gecko, macaw, and tarantula

Hahaha! I bet this isn't the result the American Family Association expected when they started sending out their poll..

Whom do you favor for the next President of the United States?
  • John Kerry   90.24% 17,627 vote(s)
  • George Bush   3.49% 682 vote(s)
  • Ralph Nader   6.27% 1,224 vote(s)
    Total: 19,533 vote(s)

(Note that I shouldn't have known about this poll, since I unsubscribed from their mailing list immediately after helping push the results of their Gay Marriage poll towards the reasonable result. Be that as it may, here's [livejournal.com profile] djkangal's commentary: Polls, PACs, Politics, the Presidency and Other Comedies of Error.)

And on a ludicrous note, from [livejournal.com profile] alacrity we have Objective: Christian Ministries "Evolutionism Propaganda." I'll just cite Damien's commentary:
This page is the funniest thing I've read in weeks. At the beginning it seems to be standard tripe, but once you get past the header "Apple Macintosh" it just gets outlandishly funny. Like, so funny I really want to believe this page is a joke. Because it is. But I don't think it was intended to be. Which is both incredibly funny and disturbingly sad at the same time.

I particularly like where they call BSD an "obsolete OS" and they throw in a good jab at Scientology at the end. The unending strings of logical fallacies throughout it really take the cake, though. I'm trying to imagine the complete lack of brainpower that would be needed to take any one of these paragraphs at face value. It's staggering.
