While I was working on a speaker installation this afternoon, I got to watch a fair bit of The Quiet Man (1952), starring John Wayne. I liked what I saw, so it's a shame I only got to see the beginning. :)

After work and dinner, Jillian and Oscar biked over, and we went to Greater Union to see the 8:45pm showing of The Return of the King, which was really really good. Made me want to read the books again, though most you are aware how futile a notion this is for me. :)

As I mentioned, I intended to get a haircut last night, but eventually ran short on time before the movie. So, after work today, I went to get a haircut, at Shapes, just behind the movie theater. One woman had just left, leaving the proprietor as the sole occupant; he commented (tongue-in-cheek) that I could get a haircut right then, but that it would delay his lunch--and this was at 6:15. :) (He said that some nights he doesn't get to eat until 2am, to bed at 4, and up again at 8.)

The guy was a character. George, age 70, looks 40, runs 20km 6 days a week, works out, attributes his almost total lack of baldness and grey hair to daily scalp massages. Doesn't ask how you want your hair done, and you walk out with a good haircut anyway. Threw in a beard and mustache trim while he was at it. Total cost, A$20 (about US$15), and he says that I'm a regular customer now, and will get 10% off next time I come in. :)
