[23:50] nickgunkle: I bought this awesome book...... Build Your Own Laser, Phaser, Ion Cannon and Other Space-Age Projects
[23:50] CU Stryker: i've read that book, plus another one by the same author. :)
[23:50] nickgunkle: Score.
[23:50] nickgunkle: Working on the portable pain field generator, cause it requires the fewest parts.
[23:51] CU Stryker: w00t! Iannini also has "Electronic Gadgets for the Evil Genius : 21 Build-It-Yourself Projects" and the out-of-print "Build Your Own Working Fiberoptic Infrared and Laser Space-Age Projects" [the other one I read]
[23:51] nickgunkle: Ooooooh, the first one sounds hella better than the second.

[23:52] nickgunkle: http://www.plans-kits.com/index1.html
[23:52] nickgunkle: Much more interesting shit.
[23:52] nickgunkle: If you really feel like taking out a few dozen SWAT officers with you. :-P
[23:54] CU Stryker: dude, that site's awesome
[23:54] nickgunkle: Like the Anarchist's Cookbook, only for sale and more dangerous.

I'm curious how some of my boxes got significantly wet.. they were in an enclosed trailer, then my parents house for several months, then my truck, then indoor climate-controlled storage in Manassas for several months, then in my truck for a month or two, before coming to rest at this house. Where in that sequence could several of the boxes have gotten wet enough to ruin a few books and mildew the boxes? :\ Only thing I can think of is some sort of leak in the storage facility, however unlikely.. :P

I now have all of my books unpacked, and in very limited order across four different bookcases; also unpacked is a wide and random assortment of other items that've been in boxes for a long time; a good bit of stuff is still in boxes. Some will go into storage as I don't need it while living here; the rest will eventually find a place in my house. Installing the closet hardware would help, too. :)

I'd totally forgotten that there's a lunar eclipse tonight! Nathan noticed the moon looked like odd--crescent with a brighter-than-usual shadowed section, but when we got home our neighbor pointed out that it is indeed an eclipse. So, we stood outside and chatted with him for half an hour while we watched it go mostly red-shadow. :) (I don't think it's a total eclipse, as it still has a brighter edge.)

I'm officially jealous of [livejournal.com profile] gingerdc9!
[19:38] Gingerdc9: I GOT THE SV!!! :-D:-D:-D
(The silver Suzuki SV650S, that is. Want! :D)

So earlier this afternoon, I was thinking about heading out to Black Wolf Coffee to celebrate their first anniversary, and to see the rescued black wolf they brought in for the event. Originally, I thought this was at the Manassas location, the only one I knew about--but upon closer inspection of the flier I got in the mail, it's at the original Warrenton location. (I was also thinking about calling up Christina, since we went to the Manassas location several times.)

However, around 2, Nathan's friend Diane still hadn't shown up, scheduled for noon. He called, and learned that she'd tried calling instead of just showing up (as he thought was arranged), and she said she'd tried three times with no response. Now, we're certain that the phone didn't ring three times, or if it did (when he was out and I was in the shower for 10 minutes), she left no messages. Regardless, plans off for the day.

Nathan was still all fired up to -do- something, though, particularly his original plans of seeing the Matrix Revolutions. Since I'd spent the morning putting more stuff away and figuring out errands, I packed the stuff I wanted to store or otherwise take out into my truck. Stopped by storage, checked out a large shopping center I'd never seen before, and had lunch at Chipotle. (Mmm.) After that, off to Springfield Mall, bought movie tickets, checked out a computer game store, and went in for the movie.

I don't even understand the people who didn't like it--I thought it was awesome, quite possibly better than the second one, pretty solid plot, and nowhere near as much religious symbolism as several people have alluded to (certainly no "cramming it down my throat."

We then stopped by Dairy Queen for a Blizzard and a milkshake--y'know, 'cause it's cold outside--before heading home, with a stop by Giant on the way. Then there was eclipse-watching, now Nathan's playing his new LotR game (which has a 2-player mode he wants me to join him on), and then I think we'll watch a movie or two that he's had out for 2+ 5-day rental periods without watching. :)

[livejournal.com profile] whatthefuck: Don't do this to a CD. :D

CNN.com: Oh no! Kissing on the subway! What lax morals!
CNN.com: Digital world beauty queen. (The last paragraph is a bit odd. :)
