Tody at work, we worked on learning the Advent security system--following a group presentation, one team of two working on rewiring the simple system, from scratch, out in the lab; the other four working at the more complex system in the training room and not getting much of anywhere. In the meantime, I made an additional cheat sheet that may actually assist me greatly in working on the test system tomorrow--general connection info rather than not-very-applicable example schematics.

Also, got into a discussion with Rob, the Ford-loving, Chevy-hating, Harley-loving, non-American-bike hating, gun-loving, Republican, queer-hating, gonna-discipline-his-kids-with-a-belt son of a Ford-loving, Chevy-hating, Harley-loving, non-American-bike hating, gun-loving, Republican, queer-hating, gonna-discipline-his-kids-with-a-belt dad, grandfather similar. Charming lad, really. He just couldn't really grasp how I could calmly accept alternate sexualities, plan to discipline without violence, talk about women's issues without squeamishness, and other such rational responses. (I didn't even want to touch on religion--especially after be brought up "God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.")

Needed a few supplies. Headed north towards Petsmart and Home Depot, passing miles of backed up traffic headed the other way; decided it would probably be best to return another way (if I didn't wait it out in the course of shopping.) At Petsmart, I got a big jug of clumping litter w/odor crystals for the ferrets, a couple toys for the macaw (a big, bright cholla chew string and a string of natural wood chunks), and a tub of superworms, and entertained the Severe macaw (or vice versa) for several minutes. Drove partway next door to Home Depot, realized I couldn't drive all the way on the access roads, and walked over. Found that I could get 50lbs of play sand for $3, a far cry from ZooMed's Repti-Sand for alomst $1/lb. (The bearded dragon needs a) more b) replacement sand.) Started back the way I'd come, stopping by a Giant on the way (for various breakfast/lunch/cleaning items), and continued home in the now-normal-traffic.

Gave Lucy (macaw) a Cheez-It, put food away, gave her the cholla toy, set the toilets to clean while I fed the bearded dragon superworms, and now them toilets be shiny white, with tablet-blue water in 'em.
