Dinner was quite tasty, and then Shauna/Matt/Steph/Brendan/I went back to Steph&Matt's, where we (minus Brendan) watched three episodes of Discovery's The Great Biker Build-Off (2: Billy Lane vs. Dave Perewitz, 3: Indian Larry vs. Paul Yaffe, 4: Billy Lane vs. Indian Larry). Those are some crazy mofos (especially Indian Larry) and some hot bikes, great show. :)

Drove (drove! truck!) home, fed/watered all my animals, failed to convince Nathan that there's any point in returning dishes/silverware/empty cans to the kitchen in a timely fashion, b) throwing trash out from around the kitchen and living room in a timely fashion, or c) covering leftovers in the fridge. If anyone has any conclusive evidence to support (c), please let me know. ("Crap can fall in," "The odors leak into other food," and "Bacteria can build up more quickly" seem to be insufficient justification, and I haven't yet tried "It dries out." :P)

Apparently, in the midst of all this rain saturating the entire mid-Atlantic and SE regions, the whole {south/north}west is suffering from an increasingly severe drought. This nifty animated map (from [livejournal.com profile] teri_lee) shows it nicely. :)

However, as of Friday, it's utterly gorgeous around DC during the day, and even a bit chilly--mid50s--at night! Fall has fallen, and right quick. :)

James Randi on Moore and the Ten Commandments
(From [livejournal.com profile] atheist)

History of Moore, the monument, and the 10Cs themselves--and why they're of little value in many of their incarnations. A good read.

Got to bed before 04, got up after 12. Had some food, watched some West Wing, and relpied to a bunch of older comments. Productive, me. :)

For some reason, Nathan decided that this evening would be a good time to clean up the living room, to the tune of entirely clearing and cleaning the table, the floor around it, and setting up the weight bench. At least, it's mostly set up--with my help, we figured out where all the pieces go, even if we're lacking a connector and a few pads. (It allows for bench/incline/decline press, leg extensions, curls, and lat pull-downs, depending what pieces are attached.) It will require a bit of furniture rearrangement to use, but that can happen after we acquire the missing parts. (He got it from a friend, without instructions, so it's all kind of on the fly like that.)

And in my email Trash folder is 370 comment emails, dated either 6/22-6/24 (about 25 of 'em) or 8/22-9/7 (the rest), 75 of those from today (i.e. arrived today.) Only ~435 to go!
