At work, there's a new format of daily tasks assigned now, which is a) how it was supposed to be done all along, if one believes the format of the page, and b) annoying. Instead of each person's tasks being in one part of the page. each set of tasks has a group of people--meaning one person's tasks are scattered throughout the page. Among everyone's tasks today were "Sell 8 plants," which bothers me--I detest selling to a quota, as the vast majority of my job is (and should be) "provide the best services and products for people and their pets." While live plants are indeed good for tanks, if people want them, they'll ask. Grr.
Also on my tasks was"build/set up/price tank&stand setups," which involved the lengthy construction of a fairly elaborate 50/55gal cherry tank stand--by all rights at least an hour's work, but around customer service, it took more like three. At least it looks nice, in all its $180 glory--which, incidentally, is $70 cheaper and much nicer and more useful then the similarly-sized Proquatics oak stand.
In other occurrences at work, Tonya (one of the managers) discovered her truck had a dead battery, asked if I had jumper cables in my truck. I immediately answered yes, but realized a few minutes later that the box of tools/cables/fluids was in my dad's garage, removed to make room for the bird cage. I always carry that box just in case, but this time, "just in case" arrived without the box being present. :P (Unrelated, I got a call from mom at work telling me that my new desk and chair were sitting in the back of her van.)
( Crazy storm, yo. )
In the meantime, sleep, as I open at work tomorrow, 0700. ("What's the '0' stand for? Oh my god, it's early.") :P
Back up to ?skip=420, and still have those three noted-but-not-elaborated 4th-of-July-weekend posts to write. :P
Friday plans: Work, home-cooked dinner with the parents, as the other night's Papa John's didn't cut it in my mom's eyes--no complaints from me or Melody. :)
Saturday plans: Go into DC with Melody, stopping by Wolftrap along the way to visit/meet Melody's friend Dina.
