Cue!

Headed out to Cue again, in what I fully intend to make a regular thing. Hung out with the interesting, lithe, and downright delectable Becky* most of the evening; also ran into [livejournal.com profile] djkangal, [livejournal.com profile] djpaulen--both of whom thanked me for coming again--and officially met Cosmo, one of the doormen. [livejournal.com profile] asurasunil was also present, in his last performance in the DC area for a while. but I didn't really meet him.

Danced a whole lot, drank more than a little, and am already looking forward to next week.

(Also, they turned up one of the TVs around 10:15 for Bush's announcement; it was suitably scoffed and we continued to have a good time afterwards.)

* Same girl as was mentioned in my first and second Cue posts, in increasing degrees of appreciation. Had to pick up my jaw several times per night. :)

First, from Becky:

this is something bob wrote this morning, and sent to everyone in his office. i think it is Beautiful, and Incredibly Needed, so i wanted to share it with all of you. perhaps you can send it on to more people, if you feel as strongly about its message, or write something of your own and share it, if you feel Inspired. even though this war has started, depsite our best efforts to prevent it, we Cannot give up Believing that we can have Some Positive Impact on either its course, outcome, or Life after it is over. we have already made some Very Powerful Contributions with our Voices, our Actions and with our Energy. we Must Continue.

Please at least read this, and take a moment to do what it asks. and i Urge you to pass it along--or at least pass along the request. the Prayers and the Energy we raise can only be strengthened by adding them together and continuing to pass them along.

Even if you support the actions being taken in this situation, it is still Possible, and Vital, in my opinion, to take a moment to Really Reflect on what is happening, and the Impact it is having and is going to have, and to pray for those lives being lost.

Thanks for taking the time.

May you all be Safe and Know how Much you are Loved.

Greetings everyone:

As i'm sure you're all aware, the US began it's campaign to whatever
ends, in Iraq. Lives are being lost today. No matter what your position on the cause, the effect is that people are dying. Please take a moment of silence, whenever you feel appropriate, and reflect on the actions being taken elsewhere in the world, a world which we share.

Try not to lose sight of that today. We tend to wrap ourselves in a
shroud of local busying events, and forget that we share the world with a lot of other people, each as equally important and significant as ourselves.

Pray this ends soon.
-Bob

More soon..

Operation Military Support: Supporting Our Troops One Letter at a Time
Welcome to Operation Military Support. We are a grass roots, non-profit, community based organization. It is our goal to be sure that every man and woman in the military service of our country is reminded that their sacrifice and work is appreciated "back home".

Operation Military Support supports all the men and women in our military overseas. We receive names of men and women who do not receive regular mail from home and connect them with volunteers who want to boost the spirits of military personnel. This will ensure that they can do their best with confidence that we in the United States are appreciative of them for keeping peace throughout the world. They are doing the job they are asked to do and we support them for serving.

And in the funny, National Guardman legally changes his name to Optimus Prime.
"I got a letter from a general at the Pentagon when the name change went through and he says it was great to have the employ of the commander of the Autobots in the National Guard."

[livejournal.com profile] benzado: Thanks, Scott. Your freakish dedication to LiveJournal is strangely comforting. :-)

Com-minty!

[livejournal.com profile] skamille was right. The Postal Service - Such Great Heights (.mp3, 4MB) is quite good. If it's indicative of their new album Give Up, as she indicates, it's an album I wouldn't mind having.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] gwyndyn's kitten is adorable. :)
