Before work, I stopped by Loew's to get replacement shelf hardware to remount the shelf that's half-collapsed in my closet, preventing me from hanging up half my long-sleeved clothes.. then by B&N, to buy some Xmas cards. (My mom gave me eight geeky ones, purchased there last year, but upon perusing my address book I came up with 20-25 recipients, so I needed to get more.) Then, to work.
Work was busy. Didn't take my break until 45min later than planned; didn't get to my assigned daily tasks until after dinner; was still feeding animals after we closed (as was JJ)--with the Pionus riding on my shoulder as I fed all the fish; finished most of recovery (making the shelves/goods look nice) by 11:30 when we were all shuffled out. Tonya (closing manager) was -pissed- about how behind schedule we all were--walking through the store yelling--but she'd had a stressful day, as had we all.. and I open in the morning! 7am! (Work till 3, then go over to Nathan's around 5, thence to the Metro into Georgetown for our 5-yr HS reunion at 7:30.)

pscittacines:
So until earlier this evening, my macaw had one of those wood link "ladders" hanging in her cage, and loved pulling it around, chewing on the links, grabbing onto it while climbing..
But while I was at work, I got a call from home. She had poked her head through it, then a foot--and gotten stuck! Panicked, she started screaming, and my parents had to rush to her aid to extract her from the toy (by cutting through the wood of the link), calm her down, and remove that toy.. Did some damage to my dad's hand, too. She got her left wing caught through some of the cage bars while she was flailing, too--no serious damage, the wing's fine, but some of the feathers were broken and will have to regrow. (Took a pic, it'll appear soonish.)
She was quite happy to see me when I got back from work a few hours later..
In other bad bird news, seven of Christina's 17 budgies died today, apparently of Polyoma (Avian Polyomavirus). All the birds the store gets are vaccinated against it, so we think it may have come in with a customer's budgies she and JJ removed the bands from--one of JJ's birds died recently too. My macaw was vaccinated against Polyoma, and she's only six months old.. assuming she was vaccinated properly, she should be safe and only need an annual booster, but I'm still kinda worried.
