Dec. 9th, 2002 06:47 pmGrabbed a poptart, got to work on time. Pretty good for getting up 15min before I had to be there, but I only live ~3mi away. :) Work was uneventful; after work picked up Christina and went to the mall for some Xmas shopping. Got something for mom, but I'm not sure if it's the right thing--have to ask Steph. Thought of possible stuff to get for other people, but didn't buy. Got McFlurries at McD's. :) Dropped C off, stopped by the store to pick up my leftover lunch--I don't work again until Thursday.
Came home, mom's out grocery shopping, I have almost 90 LJ posts to catch up on and a good-sized handful of email. Got my poor abandoned bird out for a while. (Bet mom got her out during the day, so poor and abandoned. ;)
In other news, Clinique Happy (for men) doesn't smell very good; unfortunately, that's what my hands smell like. ("If this is what happy smells like, I'm not sure I want to be happy!")

Brushes with fame..
Dec. 9th, 2002 08:03 pmMy older sister, Steph, is an interior designer with Mastercraft Interiors. Today, a man comes in in search of furniture, she starts chatting with him, and in the meantime, a supervisor recognizes him and checks to make sure a) he's being helped and b) he's in capable hands. Seeing it was Steph helping him, her concerns were allayed, 'cause she's that good.
The man? G. Gordon Liddy. :)
Not quite as exciting as the First Lady of Egypt, whom she helped earlier this year, but a better-known household name. :)

Monday Mission!
Dec. 9th, 2002 09:11 pmHaven't felt like responded to the last few weeks of questions, but I liked this set better:
1. Do you get sick very often? What illness do you find that you've had most frequently?
I very rarely get seriously sick with anything.. occasional congestion, which recently has persisted for a few weeks at a very low-grade level. However, I was a very sickly child--asthma, serious allergies, pneumonia fourteen times. Fortunately, I've gotten past all that, at least for now. :)
2. I know a man who flat out refuses to go to the Doctor's office. You'd need an ambulance to get him near a hospital. Not me, I'd rather go as soon as I feel sick so I can get better. Do you mind going to see the Doctor when you get sick? Do you know anyone who just refuses to go to a Doctor when they get ill? Any idea why they are like that?
I don't mind going to the doctor, though I haven't gotten sick enough to need it in recent memory. And as I don't currently have health insurance, I'm hoping I don't have to.
jestf14 refuses to go to the doctor unless he's certain his injury or illness is life-threatening; he'd prefer to wait it out and/or tough it out--even made a flowchart describing his medical decision-making. He's a tough sumbitch, he is. ;)
3. How about visiting the Dentist? Do you go get a check-up every 6 months? Or do you dread going?
Don't mind that, either. Went every 6 months while covered by my dad's insurance, but that's lapsed now.
4. I've heard about a diet pill called "Thermolift" that allegedly gives you quite an energy rush (oh boy mentioning this will surelybring us all a ton of Google hits won't it?). Although I've thought about getting some of these pill for the times I need a boost, I'm probably not going to take the plunge. Have you ever taken any diet pills, energy pills or energy drinks? How did they make you feel? Do you still take them? How come?
I've used various energy drinks or energy bars, generally coupled with athletic workouts. I don't know if they really do much, but it doesn't seem like they can do any damage. (And I'm talking Gatorade and PowerBars, for example, not Red Bull. Had that, too, it's alright.)
5. Have you heard about "Gastric Bypass" surgery that many celebrities are doing to loose weight? (The process reduces the size of your stomach to facilitate weight loss) What are your thoughts on this procedure? Would you ever consider it? How would you feel if a relative were to decide to undergo the procedure?
Seems a bit extreme and, like most extreme methods, I'd find it excessive if it was used before standard and doctor-assisted dietary plans and chemicals were found to not work to reduce obesity. I wouldn't object to anyone trying it, though, as long as the risks associated with the surgery weren't greater than those coupled to obesity.
6. What do you think the opposite sex needs to experience to fully understand what it is like to be your gender?
Having a one-track mind for a while. :)
7. And to lighten things up a bit before we go...What's the most worthless gadget, infomercial item or "looked like a bargain" item you have ever purchased or owned?
Don't know, really.. someone who knows me and my stuff will have to comment on that. :)
BONUS: Why can't every day be like Christmas?
Santa would get skinny from all the exercise, and then where would we be?
