Phones went out again around 1am, so I read a good bit more of Atlas Shrugged before sleeping. Dad called Verizon around noon, a tech just came out. Turns out the problem was, in fact, related to the cut caused by the backhoe earlier in the week, even though that was patched--but not patched permanently. Apparently when a phone is off the hook, "permanent busy", long enough, the switch blocks the line and has to be reset by the switch crew. Since the tech got a dialtone out at the drop box, he knew it was a problem in the drop cable, so he ran a new line from the drop box to the house, to be buried in a week or so. Phones work again!

Aimed to go to Logan's Roadhouse for dinner tonight with my parents, but they were beyond packed.. so we went to Chili's instead, picked up an old paycheck for Shauna, had tasty food, discovered that one of the managers (Mike) was also a manager at Chesapeake when I was working there in high school. :)
Then we came home and watched one of the three movies my mom had rented, John Q. (Denzel Washington, poor father, takes a hospital hostage when his son needs a heart transplant and he's left with no options.) Pretty good movie, dramatic, etc.

Also, this song is great for Virginians, and in general. :)
