Logistics..

I'm going to need to move all my stuff, my truck, and my motorcycle from here to home (350mi away) in a couple weeks.
  • If I do it in one trip with no help, I'd either need to rent a trailer which could fit my bike, and tow it with my truck; or, rent a truck that can fit my bike and tow my own truck. One-way tow for a normal U-Haul trailer is around $90 for such a trip. One-way truck rental from Ryder, as estimated by Jon Peck, is well over $200, with a tow dolly adding another $100. Extra days on trailers/dollies are $20/day, trucks are $40 extra/day.
  • If I make multiple trips, I have a wider variety of options, including "local" rentals of trailers.. $10-$20 for a day.
  • If I get help, I'll still have to tow the bike, and get someone(s) up here and/or back in additional vehicles, which has its own logistical issues.

And to top it all off, I really don't know how much stuff I have to take. I'd like to pack stuff up so I know, but I can't pack any stuff I'll need between now and then. :P

I was all set to drop off my MEng report and abstracts at the MAE Grad office this morning, and wouldn't you know it, the woman who runs it is out until tomorrow. I still replaced the folder of previous reports/copy of my report/notes and the Acrobat CD, though.
Then I went downtown, got a ceramic-specific glue to fix my celtic mug (fell off its shelf some time ago, chipped out two chunks), and got gas for my bike.
Then, I returned to campus, went to the Cornell Store, got a small pack of Cornell-seal-emblazoned cards which I'm going to try using for graduation announcements--if they work out, I'll get a few more packs and start with the printing. Also got a pewter "Cornell Alumni" license plate frame, because my old plastic TJ '97 one had lost most of its plastic text.

    *ahem*

Do we see a little problem here? From my Hotmail account:

    Inbox 481 (481 new)
    Junk Mail 12 (12 new)

    Great filtering, really.

New settings: Allow a few addresses I select (like the others I own), send all others to Junk Mail. Spammers be gone!

Went swimming in Fall Creek gorge with Rochelle again.. the water level was even lower than a couple days ago, and the water had warmed up a few more degrees, but it was still fun and refreshing. :)

    In related news:
  • This a cappella group is really good
  • A pic of my license plate and new frame
  • A current pic of my bike, with fairing on.
  • This new Semagic client I mentioned earlier has some really nice features that make posting a lot easier. Check it out! :)

I mentioned a few days ago that I'd found a great cookie recipe in the Betty Crocker cookbook, but never posted it. So, without further ado, we have:
