Logistics..
Aug. 1st, 2002 01:09 amI'm going to need to move all my stuff, my truck, and my motorcycle from here to home (350mi away) in a couple weeks.
If I do it in one trip with no help, I'd either need to rent a trailer which could fit my bike, and tow it with my truck; or, rent a truck that can fit my bike and tow my own truck. One-way tow for a normal U-Haul trailer is around $90 for such a trip. One-way truck rental from Ryder, as estimated by Jon Peck, is well over $200, with a tow dolly adding another $100. Extra days on trailers/dollies are $20/day, trucks are $40 extra/day.
If I make multiple trips, I have a wider variety of options, including "local" rentals of trailers.. $10-$20 for a day.
If I get help, I'll still have to tow the bike, and get someone(s) up here and/or back in additional vehicles, which has its own logistical issues.
And to top it all off, I really don't know how much stuff I have to take. I'd like to pack stuff up so I know, but I can't pack any stuff I'll need between now and then. :P
