From this morning's Cornell police report:
04/05/02
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
EAST AVENUE & TOWER ROAD
Reported receiving a complaint from a student that was sprayed with a water gun by an unknown individual that was driving by. Incident occurred at 1755 hours on 04/05/02.

That's right. Someone was drive-by watergunned, and reported it to the police.

('k, maybe if you're wearing cashmere, but what does reporting it really accomplish? Will insurance care, if you happen to be wearing something that valuable?)

Quite by accident, I found myself leaving my room today wearing my Old Navy pants (my favorite pair--10 pockets and a built-in belt), an Old Navy t-shirt (grey, with navy at collar and sleeve end), and my grey Old Navy fleece.
If Old Navy sold Nevados shoes (I don't think they sell shoes at all, other than flip-flops), I'd be scared.

Good lord.

Cornell's dorm ethernet service, ResNet, recently instated a bandwidth limitation of 27GB transferred (in and out) in any 3-day period before you're automatically dropped into a low-bandwidth pipe for a day, a few days, and finally the rest of the semester on third offense.
One recently violator complained that he had his software set to allow, effectively, 27*10243-1 bytes through in a 3-day period, and apparently our limits are set at 27*109 bytes. He wants the offense taken off his record and the limit made more clear.
What we have here is someone intent on following the letter of the law, trashing the spirit of it, and still bogging down the network. Methinks the boy doth protest too much.

Then there's another guy who was responsible for allowing 240GB of transfers (no typo) in 3 days' time.

Adding the following two lines to the HEAD section of an HTML webpage:

<meta content="progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Pixelate(MaxSquare=25, Duration=2)" http-equiv="Page-Enter">
<meta content="progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Pixelate(MaxSquare=25, Duration=2)" http-equiv="Page-Exit">

Makes it do this on entrance and exit. Nifty for a while, undoubtedly bloody annoying after a while.

(It works in IE 5.x, don't know about other browsers or older versions. Only happens if you go directly to it, not opening it in a new window. Happens if you refresh, though.)
