It's April 7th, and the temperature in mid-central upstate NY is currently 23F. This is just ridiculous.

And don't forget, Daylight Savings Time kicks in tonight.. at 02, clocks change to 03. 1h37m from now, EST.

Not that I ever *cough* look at this *cough* sort of community, but apparently [livejournal.com profile] nakedparts2 has been suspended for a TOS violation.

..an hour later than it was a minute ago.

EST*beep*EDT

In case you were curious, Win2K doesn't tell you, "I changed the time because it's Daylight Savings Time, check to make sure it's right."

I was out of my room for a while this morning, and when I came back, the door was hard to open. This is bad, because it can only mean one thing--a ferret has gotten out, and played under the mat inside the door.
So, I got to put a lot of things back in their proper places, put the ferret back in his cage, and figure out why my computer was emitting an extended, repeated beeping.
Then, I noticed that the cup of water that had been on my desk was now on the floor, and its contents were in my keyboard. Hence, there was a short circuit somewhere, and the computer thought keys were being pressed. So, I took the keyboard apart, dried everything off, cleaned out under/around all the keys (pretty nasty after 5 years, lemme tell you), and now I'm quite familiar with the inner workings of my keyboard.
Unfortunately, on plugging it back in, while most of the keys worked fine, a few did not. Tab, A, and Space, for example. So apart it came again, noted discoloration along several circuit paths, cleaned all contact and path surfaces with alcohol as best I could, reassembled, same problem.
So now I'm on an old Packard Bell keyboard I happened to have lying around. I don't like it as much--noisier, \ key moved, no Windows key, beige instead of black--but as all of its keys work, I suppose it'll have to do until I can replace or figure out how to fix the other one.

This past weekend was initiation weekend for my fraternity (Seal & Serpent Society, oldest independent in the U.S. :) As an alum living in the house, I wasn't obligated to help except out of obligation to the society, so I helped out with some stuff, participated in some of the activities, but got more sleep and free time than the actives. :) Several older alumni came back to help (John Cadone, Rob Cunjack, Osman, Dan Duval (the chef for Saturday dinner--excellent hotelie, he is), Tom Campbell, and maybe one or two others I forgot.
Also, the boarders had to be out of the house from Friday noon to Sunday 6pm, so I took care of Katia's cat (including medicine twice a day--fun!) while she stayed with a few friends and attended a huge/important Anthro conference here at Cornell.
And dinner tonight was at Angelino Centini's, a reasonably nice Italian restaurant up near IC.. a bit overpriced, but decent food.. surprised Sean with a big birthday cake, too.
Got to ride in Osman's borrowed car, too.. Acura Integra. Soo nice. :)
