Ah! Finally back again!
Jan. 3rd, 2002 11:41 pmAfter another 30 hours offline (dad's computer was running, but didn't want to detect the CD-ROM properly (one drive is kaput, the other seems flaky)--meaning no driver installs for modem, meaning no online), I'm back.
Albeit until DirectX 8 is downloaded (12MB) and installed, followed by the installation of the ATI video drivers (14MB, already downloaded), I'm in 640x480x16 mode. Blech.
In other news, I'm now five books out of six complete in LotR (only been reading 'em since June!), and have contacted Jen Durdall (no call waiting or answering machine at that house), no calls back from Ali, Lindsay, or Anne yet. Taking Joanna to her dentist appt. tomorrow, then on to non-boredom. Today was boredom. :) (No computer, no friends around to call. Watched some soaps, read some Tolkien.) And once again, it's snowing everywhere but here. Central and SE VA, but not Northern.
And, that's about it for now. No trip to CT, due to change in circumstances, or I'd already be there. Onward!
