Rock on.

Looks like another set of movie nights forthcoming.. returned the last five and rented five more, finally using the $15 in Hollywood Video gift certificates I got for Xmas. :)

Movie #1: Gone in 60 Seconds f*cking rocked. Nicolas Cage is awesome, the car chases are fabulous, and the cars are without equal. I would take a 1967 Shelby GT-500 over any Dodge Viper, yes I would.

And the quotes are excellent. :)

CNN.com has issues.

Once again, CNN.com has significantly decreased the usefulness of their front page. Where there used to be 4-5 headlines in each major category, including Fringe News, they first cut it to 3 in each category and booted Fringe; this time, it's down to:

- Half a dozen top stories
- World: 3 stories
- U.S. (3)
Featured Sections (2, currently):
- Space (3)
- Entertainment (3)
And then, Section Highlights. One headline each from Politics, Law, Sci-Tech, Health, Travel, Education, and Career.
Oh, and a few items shown for Sports and Time.com.

I want to get a good overview of the news by reading the main page, and checking only the articles that interest me--I don't want to have to visit each section just in case there are interesting articles hidden inside.

(Yes, of course they have a rationale.)

Entertaining day..

So Becca had to be at the Amtrak station in Syracuse for a 4:20 train, which ended up being 20min late.. left here around 2:30, got there around 3:30, hung aroung till her train got there.

Discovered that the reason Amtrak can't get me to Pittsburgh is that Amtrak just doesn't run through Northern/Central PA, so I'd basically have to go through -Cleveland-.

Then, Neal and I went to Carousel Mall (one of the largest malls in this part of the country, I believe) and wandered about for a couple hours.. had dinner at Johnny Rocket's.

Reasons Johnny Rocket's rocks:

50s diner atmosphere

Jukebox control at each table and all down the bar

Free nickels for the jukebox

Great food

Those lift-out straw dispenser jars

Servers who lifts it out to offer straws

Servers who serve you ketchup, in a smiley face, in little cardboard trays

Staff who come out and dance and sing in the aisles to Aretha's "Respect"

Flavoured syrups for sodas

Malts

Then we drove back to Ithaca, and my truck currently seems to be behaving, temperature-wise, which is good. Real test is next weekend, when I drive to Pittsburgh.

And soon, I'm going to a dinner party with Katia to celebrate the birthday some friend of hers.
