a) Moulin Rouge kicked serious ass. Amazing cinematography, great story, great message, good acting, and lauging our asses off half the time at the music and musical references they used.. I may get the soundtrack with my free CD at CDNOW, too. (Update: I did. :)

b) The preview for the new Planet of the Apes movie looks fantastic, too.

c) This song is really cool.

Well, now..

Here we have the life I never knew I led, courtesy of Ellen.

If you, too, want to be spared, best get on my good side. ;)

Erin, Jen, D, Ali:
Is the get-together at Erin's in Pittsburgh still happening the weekend of the 20th? Who can come?

Don't this suck? I should be able to drive, but if I can't, it'll cost me $100 and 12+hrs each way to take Greyhound.. vs. 6-7hrs if I drive. Need to get my radiator fixed or replaced first, though. :P

  • Called another couple radiator places, verifying a New price of $110-$130.
  • Got Lightlink to come out here to check out our hardware because our connection was down again. This was corrected.
  • Went by Grad Financial Aid to inquire about grants/fellowships/scholarships/TAing, got referred to the engineering grad dept. They were closed, even though it was too early in the day for this to be the case. I also waited 20 minutes for either of two cars to leave a 10-minute parking zone, before parking illegally and going in. This annoyed my greatly.
  • E-mailed MAE grad coordinator about above issues.
  • Went to the mall.
  • Applied at Lechters.
  • Applied at Hoyts.
  • Applied at Ritz Camera, where I probably won't be hired because they're looking for full-time semester help, because guess what? Their current staff is mostly college students.

And guess what? Our connection is down again. This is something like four times in two days.

Update: According to Homer, the guy at Lightlink, it's most likely a problem with the DSL line itself--either a connection has been damaged, or an additional line Verizon put in somewhere is interfering with the high-frequency carrier--so he's going to call them up, leave a note making things sound much worse than they are, and hopefully it'll get fixed. In the meantime, he's had to lower our connection speed several times in order to get the connection to sync again. At 1.6Mbps down it won't sync at all, at 1.2M it'll sync and then fail repeatedly, and we're currently up at about 900K. =P

And this year, Ithaca is even cheaper than usual. Since apparently the city doesn't want to foot the bill for a fireworks show, it's generally off a day (July 3rd or 5th) so as to be cheaper. This year? It's tonight. July 2nd. I find this mildly ridiculous.

The fireworks show up at IC was pretty good, probably the best show of the last three years--however, there wasn't much else attached, like the live/DJ'd music and dancing of the last two years. (And, some of the fireworks were fired half below the treeline.. I'm not sure anyone could see them there.)
We started to drive up to the show, but knew parking would be horrendous, so I turned around and drove back downtown, parked, and took the free shuttle bus. Of course, on the way back out, traffic was so bad that it probably took half an hour or more just to get out of the lot.. I think we could've easily walked back downtown to my truck in less time than it took the bus. :)

Let's celebrate our country's independence by blowing things up! Yeah! ;)
    Boom!

(I think on the 4th, we're going to see Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Hangar Theatre.)
