I dislike telephone interviews.
May. 3rd, 2001 01:38 pmEspecially with open-ended questions like, "What are your qualities, what would you bring to Hi-Speed?" (or something similar)
This being with the Operations Manager at Hi-Speed Checkweigher, my employer for the last two summers. I haven't worked with him, as he's not in engineering, but he's the one in charge of this current bit of hiring. I think I'll give him references of the employees I -have- worked with directly.
At least he commented on my status of being a graduate..

Got my free Black Tape for a Blue Girl CD in the mail today.. forgot I'd asked for it :)
(It's a 4-song CDsingle.)
And my camera is back at the local shop! It'll be here in time for the formal! Hurrah!

Y'know how many of us have complained about VNC's inability to transfer files?
Well, WinXP seems to have an excellent utility built in.. courtesy of Chris:
"Dude! Remote Desktop on WindowsXP OWNS ME. This is freakin' great!

Think PC Anywhere or VNC, integrated into the OS (can be turned off for security reasons), and a really good encryption/compression algorithm. Even transmit sound over Ethernet. It also does a nice thing of "connecting" the local drives as remote network drives, so you can access the files from the local computer on the remote computer and vice versa. I was able to connect to Meep at home (the laptop), log in, run and explore around AC Explorer, load AIM, chat with sounds, then logout. And the performance over the 384 SDSL is good enough that it's smooth and barely shows signs of not being the local machine."
w00t!
