Dominos, Alchemy, and two links

For dinner, Nathan ordered Dominos, so we tried the new cheese-layer pizza. Nathan accurately described it as "zesty"--kind of like ranch dressing made into a cheese sauce. Odd.

Ah yes, one other event--Alchemy! Went, got in with a random person for half price, and picked up four VNV tickets--two for Ted, two for me. While inside, I realized that Social D's show is October 18th, but the ticket window was closed by the time I left. Present were some of the usual suspects--[livejournal.com profile] djkangal, [livejournal.com profile] learath, [livejournal.com profile] anizee, [livejournal.com profile] lilscotchgirl, and then there was an appearance by [livejournal.com profile] lanikei--with Manda! And Lani's boy, Victor. (And before I did any dancing, I handed out or left out a stack of posters for Nathan's upcoming play with one of the local theaters, Dracula. Details here at some point. :) A good time was had by all, though the live bands--Grendel and Mindless Faith--left much to be desired. Their music was all right, but it was clear that they weren't doing a damn thing up on stage. (DJs [livejournal.com profile] rasdna and [livejournal.com profile] 2501 were great, though. :)

So you should go to NYC, DC, LA, Chicago, Detroit, SF, Denver, or Tampa! :)

But but but.. $20! VNV! (At least, $20 here.)

Maybe it's because the government already knows everything except my blood type, but I'm not sure why the passport thing is such a big deal.

PS: something weird going on in the coding of that Pentagon link.

An extra http://, indeed.

I think it's more of a principle issue, like national ID cards and whatnot. Like you, the gov't knows pretty much everything about me already, too, but I can see it from the privacy advocate side.

I understand a knee-jerk reaction to having to disclose more information than before, but this seems fairly mild. With the exception of biometrics, it seems like they're not asking for information that they don't already have roundabout access to for any citizen who pays taxes or has a driver's license.

Maybe it's the "all in one place/card/chip" bit, since that makes it that much easier to get all the info at once.
