Hokay, so. Drove up to Rachel's old apartment, met her adorable 10-week-old golden puppy--part of the reason she's moving, landlord only allows cats--and off we went with the puppy in tow. The first place we stopped, a bar/restaurant right around the corner with a patio, wouldn't allow the dog on the patio; so, we walked a couple blocks to a friend's place where Rachel's been staying mid-move, left the puppy in its crate there, and walked to Hornet, another nearby restaurant. I had a buffalo burger, she had an enormous half-order of nachos, and we caught up over the course of the next ~2.5 hours. (Neither of us can even remember the last time we saw each other; it's probably been at least ten years if not more.) 'twas fun. :)
Addendum: There might be partying with Rachel and friends after dinner with family tonight. Also, apparently my mother is godmother to Rachel and her sister Heather--how did I manage to avoid learning this? I thought we'd all just been neighbors way back when!
And then I drove back to the hotel around 2200, didn't post at the time because it was too much effort, caught up on comics and LJ and whatnot, and eventually crashed. (It speaks volumes about fatigue when even clearing folded clothes off of the bed and changing out of work clothes seems like too much effort.)

kitiara:
Must be nice to be in the TSA's upper caste. And to forget where you put your guns.
Dear Congress, please share the crack with the rest of the class. And stop pretending like "Under God" has always been in the pledge. And cut out this shit about passing laws to prevent the SCOTUS from ruling on the Constitutionality of controversial issues! (I'm aware that, to an extent, this is part of the system of checks and balances, but I'm more inclined to trust the SCOTUS than Congress.)

motorcycles: The Motorcycle Diaries: On the Road With Young Che [Guevara]. This looks like a really good movie.
