The weather, in fact, stayed gorgeous, and I rode my motorcycle over to my parents' house mid-afternoon sometime, sans hard cases on the bike--sportier that way, albeit much less storage-y--and passed many bikes on the way. In the driveway was dad's newly-restored&painted '51 Chevy Fleetline, dark blue and shiny, still absent most of its chrome. I took pictures.
Inside the house there was a Shauna, back from her ~month in Florida with Chris, wherein she picked up assorted gifts for family, including a Mickey-on-a-classic-motorcycle t-shirt for me, and a delightful Nightmare Before Christmas mug for Steph. Spiffy!
Dinner started sometime in the 6 o'clock hour, after Matt/Steph/Brendan/Mom got out of the Wiggles show, and we all met at Red Robin in Fair Lakes, home of scads of awesome burgers. After dinner, back home, more gifts were exchanged, and mom/dad/I watched some of the women's diving and men's floor gymnastics--damn impressive stuff.
And then I got all classy: Mom's old toaster oven was partly broken, in that the toasting timer didn't work but the oven part did, and I'd offered it to Christine as her apartment has only a toaster. However, I'd come by motorcycle, and it's somewhat bulky--so I got out my trusty white rope, and lashed that sucker onto the back of the motorcycle seat. Stylin'! I took pictures after I got home. ;)
And then I chatted with Christine for a bit, before passing on a voicemail message to Nathan, and listening to him rant about the two callbacks he has Monday night (same time, Woodbridge and Reston) for recent play auditions. Poor bastard. :)

Date: 2004-08-23 09:55 am (UTC)I haven't even been carrying the bungee nets, since I have no good way to attach them (especially with the hard cases in place), short of mounting attachment points into the plastic of the bike/cases. Rope pretty much always works, though. ;)
