Party @ Crawlspace, links & moneystuff
A bit before 9 last night, I got a call from Christine--she was running a little late, as she'd had a flat tire much earlier in the day, but still went to Baltimore with the girls for haircuts and whatnot. I drove over to her place, and then drove us to the party at Kangal's which, as I fully expected, rocked, even if we did have to park half a mile away. Great music from the resident DJs, plenty of food and drink, nice apartment, and a lot of great people.
Highlights:
The Excel Saga anime, which is a hilarious anime parody series. :D
On the bulletin board in the kitchen, there was squid jerky, and a candy commercially-labeled "Gelatinous mutant coconut." Terrifying!
I tried Goth Dew Mountain Dew Pitch Black. It tastes like Grape Nehi.
Super Smash Brothers Melee.
A movie titled "Crippled Masters" was screened.
Kangal was resplendent in his black Utilikilt.
sebatical, paraphrased: There are some serious problems with distribution of wealth in this country, especially vs. the rest of the world.
(Speaking of finances, MBNA just lost my business in favor of Chase, since the former was raising my rate from 8.99% fixed to 10.99% variable, and the latter is offering "3.99% on transfers until paid off, 7.99% regular." Chase also featured a three-or-so-click online balance transfer request. Nice!)
(Update, several minutes later:
1) It doesn't seem possible for me to cancel my old Sunoco card, which I haven't used in a few years, via the automated phone system--"talking to a customer service rep about any old thing" doesn't seem to be an option.
2) I called to cancel my Discover card--haven't used it once in the six years I've had it--and, instead of canceling it, am waiting to hear back from their limit-increase folks tomorrow. It's possible they could increase my limit from the current low $1K, to above the total of my two other credit balances, and give me a transfer at 0% until paid off. Can't beat that, if they come through. They also dropped my rate from ~14% to 10.24%, which is a nice touch, but not good enough for me to actually use it for future purchases.)
Sweet!
beracjade: "U.S. men's eight wins gold for the first time in 40 years in Athens. hwhoa. AND they set the world record in their initial heat."
This evening, Shauna's back home from Florida, so there will be family dining, after Matt/Steph/Mom/Brendan get back from the Wiggles show @ Patriot Center. And it's sunny and warm! I can ride my motorcycle over! Huzzah!

That's it, I need some black mountain dew and some 'dirt' cupcakes for Halloween. It's the simple pleasures.

And the Excel saga is real hilarity. Before I'd seen that, I didn't know the Japanese were capable of that kind of satire. Did you get to the rock 'n' roll episode yet?

Not that it matters much--it's a $250, non-revolving-balance card, and they don't send me crap.
No, we just watched part of the first couple episodes at the party.
