TS Career fair @ Greenbelt Marriott. No directions available from the Marriott site for this event, either, but at least MapQuest recognized this address. Traffic was mostly fine except 95N near the WW Bridge, and 95S past 395 on the way home. Talked with Raytheon Missile Systems and JHU APL, both of whom clearly wanted more practical experience. :P
Finally reading the copy of Behold the Power of Ignorance (Goats, Volume IV) that I got from Phill a Christmas or so ago. Also, making spaghetti with meat sauce, while Christine and Faye are coincidentally out having pasta. Later, more CSI w/Christine. :)
From
michaelduff: 19th Century news going online. More than a million pages from 19th Century British newspapers are to be put online by the British Library.
From Christine and the NYTimes, The quest for the Nonkiller App., a very interesting article on the development of nonlethal weapons technology, including descriptions of several flavors of the up-and-coming developments as well as some of the ethical issues involved.
Last night's dream:
I'd been out rowing and returned to the dock as usual. However, as the boat was lifted from the water an turned over to be carried to the house, there was a leftover sneaker hanging from the skeg/rudder. I couldn't find its owner in the boathouse, so I headed to the locker room.
In the locker room, I encountered a guy with a jam-packed locker, who was complaining because he'd been told to fill it and now had to move all the stuff out again. (Other guys, ex-military, including Phill, commiserated with similar tales. While I was standing around listening to all of this, I discovered that my cell phone--a normal old Nokia with standard black and green LCD display--had acquired a host of new features. It had a high-resolution color screen, plenty of games (including Mega Man) and utilities, tourism maps, local activity listings.. Accompanying the phone was a baggie of soft plastic tokens with imprinted images that, when broken and the phone touched to them, brought up images on phone.
