Best Goats in recent memory:
You can call yourselves "The Barons of Funk" for all I care, as long as you're functionally subservient to my evil whim.

During downtime at work, I succeeded in balancing three months of checking--only two errors!--and paying the outstanding medical bill for which I received two or three invoices while away. I also noticed that the bank had included a Shauna/mom statement in the middle of a me/mom statement--guess I'll pass that along tomorrow, when I go visit. (They're getting back from their anniversary cruise this evening sometime.) :)

During my lunch break today, I went to Giant for lunch and some grocery shopping, but realized I hadn't yet put my Bonus Card back in my wallet, so I'd be wasting a lot of money, and just got lunch--jambalaya!--and went home, where I found Nathan, suffering from a minor bout of food poisoning -again-. I think he needs to pick his delis more carefully. :)

After work I went grocery shopping for real, to the tune of $102 (after $29 in Bonus Card-related savings--see why I didn't go earlier?) Dinner was leftover jambalaya, dessert was cheesecake that Nathan bought from a fundraiser recently.

I've also accomplished cleaning up and vacuuming the floor of my room, office, and upstairs hall, as well as disassembling and cleaning the ferret cage for storage, and rearranging the existing cages to allow for, perhaps, my stereo. :)

Ooh, and on the way back from the store, I ended up behind a '52 Bentley. Nice!

Interesting article via [livejournal.com profile] motorcycles, particularly section 3 on "inattentional blindness." Wrong Turn: How the fight to make America's highways safer went off course.

I've read about the gorilla test in articles posted in the bicycle forum I frequent (section 3 looked familiar -- I may have seen that entire section as well). One additional point others made about inattentional blindness was that drivers automatically screen out anything which is not a threat to them. Watch out for that Escalade, but the pedestrian/bicyclist/motorcyclist? No problem, I'm bigger -- they become invisible. Makes it all the more important for motorcyclists and bicycle commuters to own the lane and not hug the curb (not so much a tendency of motorcyclists, I'd imagine).

I think I may have seen that section before, too.

One would -hope- that most drivers are out to create a safe road for all, not just themselves, but I fear many drivers may be a bit too egocentric for that.

Motorcyclists do have to make sure they're centered in their lane (exceptions made for oil strips)--else some drivers may try to -intentionally- pass them in the same lane. Wankers.

You can save more if you shop in West Virginia. =) Is the new Wegmans any good?

I'm sure, but that's -kind of- inconvenient coming from Lorton, and I'd spend an extra $10-$20 in gas (or more, I'm not sure where the closest WV groceries would be.) :)

Don't know about the new Wegs, didn't actually make it. If it's like the one in Ithaca, it rocks. :)
