Wednesday morning, Canberra: Got up a bit late--still a bit off-balance from the previous night's alcohol, in fact--to find a note from Jillian saying she'd be off to class and back later; a call clarified she'd drive back to get me (and my leftover food and whatnot) and drive to the airport. So, I had to hurry to pack, leave my bike in storage for Jillian to get later, hurry to the airport for a 1200 flight, have breakfast.. and then wait as my flight got delayed more and more. It didn't actually leave until 1315--though the 1240 left on time, much to the chagrin of the people moved up from 1240 to 1200, including a nice woman who picked me up a sandwich and water while we waited. This meant I didn't arrive in Sydney until about 1445, and then hauled ass through the airport--and was paged while heading through--but I still missed my 1515 flight to SF. (First I had to get to the shuttle, then to Terminal 1, then to Customs, back out to Airport Help, then checkin--and I'd missed it anyway. I got rerouted via LA, to arrive about 5 hours later than planned. I couldn't get a call through from the payphone to alert Laura or Cheryl, and didn't have time to figure it out--had to board around 1545 for the 1615 flight--so they'll find out around 1000 when I land in LA. (And then they'll have to wait a few more hours for me to actually get to SF, at 1415.)
On the 747 in business class--my first time, I've always flown economy before--I got to see a few movies:
Radio: I wasn't sure exactly what message it was trying to push until about halfway through, but by the end I was really liking it, and I'll admit, was quite touched. Great soundtrack, too.
Master and Commander: Pretty good. Good story, acting, and soundtrack.
The Rundown: The Rock, Christopher Walken, Seann Scott, Rosario Dawson (mmm), great editing, kickass fight sequences all through--I want to know what fighting style the rebels were using!--and a pretty good soundtrack.
In America: A movie dedicated to Frankie Sheridan about loss, grief, love, and a little bit of magic, which was surreal at times, but generally very real, very believable.
And the food was great--salmon, crab cakes, filet mignon, an assortment of wines, raspberry cake, cheeses, the seats were comfortable (recline, leg rest, foot rest, lumbar support and massage, with more leg room than anyone would need), service was decent.
