WireWork, novelties from the ride home, and an assortment of links
Work today involved turning a mess of wires around a door into a very neat set of wire runs. I do good work. :D Work also featured two kinds of free brownies, which is never a bad thing. :) (And I learned that my team leader and one of my teammates have headed to New Zealand for a day to take advantage of a loophole in travel authorizations and time limits on working in Australia. Would've been nice to know this ahead of time, but I rarely get told much of anything--not that I'm bitter or anything. :P)
On the way home from work, I saw a whole mob of kangaroos--at least 15, I'd say, maybe 20--but they all hopped off before I could get any pictures, even though my camera was in my pocket today. :) I also saw some strange megacanoes--6-16 paddlers, with a coach at the tiller on the larger one. Took pictures. Odd. A bit later on the trip home, I got SMSed by Liz (the cute redhead from a while back) who wants to go clubbing this weekend. Woo! :)
And apparently Jillian just saw a preview for Shrek 2, and has rated it "FUCKING AWESOME!!!" :D

Heart-Shaped Skull looks pretty. Comics and art and whatnot. Rather Tim Burton-esque. :)

but it's even funnier if you pronounce it "Fuh shizzle." :P

"it doesn't take long for me to be reminded that accent marks make all the difference in the Vietnamese language. (Unfortunately we can't reproduce them in the P-I.) Pho Nuong doesn't serve pho, Hanoi-style beef and rice noodle soup (pronounced "phuh?"). Because of its accent marks and subsequent pronunciation "Pho" -- in this case, actually pronounced "pho" (rhymes with "toe") -- means "downtown," according to my server. "Nuong," he tells me, means "barbecue." Put it all together, you've got "downtown barbecue."
The way I read it - depending on accent marks - (which we cannot reproduce here) the pronunciation vaies (as does the meaning)
either way, "Pho Shizzle" is still a funny name for a resturant.
