So why are there no pictures of *me* in the Insomnia gallery? I believe you have a photo of me whilst working... I'm dreadfully insulted! Hmph! You didn't get any of Luke either! :P

Because all of those pictures were taken Saturday night, when you were far away! :)

And I think my camera would suffer irreparable harm if it features pictures of Luke. ;P

I didn't know you had a Diamondback - I have a Diamondback Topanga myself.

I only have a DB here in Canberra--my bike at home, and the prior two, were all Giants. I like how they ride. :)

Are you taking the DB home? They're decent bikes, but many of the stock components could use replacing.

Not planning to, no--I still like my Giant better, and I know a guy here who's interested in buying it off me when I leave.

Probably the Giant was more expensive also.

Indeed it was.

My first was a Giant Iguana, stolen outside the student unions at Cornell. Its replacement was a Giant Yukon, purchased for about $700 with accessories, stolen behind my fraternity house. The next replacement, a Giant Yukon SE, was bought with the insurance check from the previous, which quite coincidentally came to within a dollar of said check's amount, at $500ish. (Nicer bike, too--lighter, better accessories, and Last Year's Model, hence cheaper.)

I could've gotten a Giant here for A$300-A$350, but ended up getting the DB for A$400, or about US$300.

Generally speaking, the Giant is a good brand but a more expensive one - here the Outlook can probably be had for ~$175, where I think the entry level Giant mountain bikes retail around $400.

Used is a whole different story.

Mine is a heavier frame than the outlook with a higher travel front suspension and beefier gears, but it was on sale for around $200 when I bought it. My main complaints are the lack of good wheels and tires.

Entry-level Giant can probably be had for $300, though I'm not sure if you'd want it. :) (I think my first might've been $350, and it was pretty good.)

My suspension needs adjustment, and possibly lube. Alas, my tub of Molly Butter is far, far away. So my front fork doesn't travel much at all, though simple adjustment might fix that.

Wheels and tires are quite easy to replace, you know. Well, aside from paying for them beforehand. ;)

Yes, I just have to sink the money in. I'd like to learn to work on the bike, actually. A lot of the work seems pretty simple.

It is indeed, for the most part, and there are some decent reference books out there--though one of the best hasn't been updated in several years now, garnering some complaints in Amazon.com's user reviews.
