1. When was the last time you helped out a friend in need? What was going on that made you want to help?
I don't remember, offhand. If I think of anything, I'll let you know forget to mention it here. ;P

2. Are you a "pet" person? Do you like to keep pets or would you rather not bother with them? Why?
Need you ask? I think the two ferrets, macaw, two lizards, tarantula, and formerly a cat, plus my housemate's dog, and my enjoyable employment fro m11/02-8/03 speak for themselves. Additionally, I'd like to get a cat of my own, plus a fish tank (African cichlids) and possibly a snake--though any new pets will wait until I have a) my own place and b) a job with less travel. I love animals, be they mine or someone else's, and I really don't understand people who don't like them.

3. In a dating or married relationship, is it possible to change someone to be more like you want them to be? Have you tried to or had someone try to change you? How did it turn out?
To some degree, yes, it's possible. However, the change generally can't be just because "you want it that way"--it has to be a reasonably good idea in its own right for it to stand a chance of working. Another word for this would be "compromise." An example that comes to mind is when I was dating Kristy: She was very studious, rarely playful; I was often playful, always procrastinated, eventually got my work done. She got me to study a bit more and a bit earlier; I got her to get out a bit more and have a little more fun. Good for both parties. :)

4. In your opinion, why is it that some married people have affairs? Is it ever justified?
On the surface, "they got bored, wanted something new/different," but I'd say the deeper reason is laziness--unwillingness to work to fix the boredom, to make the relationship fun and interesting. Justified? No--if you're not willing to put forth the effort, you shouldn't be in the relationship, so get out, think for a while (ideally), and start a new relationship that isn't an affair--they never turn out well, and at least one person ends up getting hurt. (Note: This is an off-the-cuff response, I haven't put significant thought into it as far as counterexamples are concerned.)

5. Do you tend to make the same mistakes over and over? Got any examples?
I've always procrastinated--on papers, projects, bill payments--which is risky, but since I almost always get the important things done on time, that probably won't change much. On a more serious note, I've had several relationships fail that probably could've been saved by better communication, but I think I've improved significantly on that note.

6. What do you find distracts you the most when you are trying to concentrate?
Something actually vying for my attention, like a person talking to me. Music and other background noise don't bother me much, never have--I credit that to elementary and high school where the partitions between many of the rooms didn't block much sound, so we had to learn to work around it. (Kids who'd always had closed classrooms had a hell of a time of it. :P)

7. What do you know "now," that you wish you knew "then?"
I would've taken EE 303 instead of EE 315 at Cornell, and gotten a EE minor. :P

BONUS: What's the matter with your life?
Not much, not much at all. :D
